On this Day May 20th 1873, Jacob Davis and Levi Strauss received US patent No. 139,121 for an “Improvement in Fastening Pocket-Openings”. Strauss owned a dry goods business and Davis was a tailor who often bought cloth from Levi Strauss’s wholesale house. In 1872, Davis asked Strauss to partner with him to patent and sell clothing reinforced with rivets. The copper rivets were to reinforce the points of stress, such as pocket corners and at the bottom of the button fly. One great idea can change history just like riveted jeans did.

The next small spark in your mind could become an invention that changes history!

“Warning: fibre lover meltdown in progress. Months later and I’m finally unboxing the gorgeous goodies sent by the wonderful Sue Sloan and I’m ready to weave my heart out.”
Unboxing joy from across the ocean today and my heart is as full as my studio table.

A while back, I had the absolute pleasure of teaching the ancient art of peg loom weaving to a wonderful group travelling with Celtic Journey at the beautiful Lyrath Estate Hotel in Kilkenny. It was one of those workshops where the room feels instantly alive, full of curiosity, laughter, and the loveliest people you could hope to meet.

Among them was the incredibly kind Sue Sloan, who has clearly mastered the art of generosity. She sent me a parcel all the way from the US packed with the most beautiful fibres, colours, and textures. Honestly, it must have cost her an arm and a leg to ship, and I’m still blown away by her thoughtfulness.

Life has been busy, and it’s taken me a while to sit down and savour this gift properly… but today was the day. And wow, what a joy. Every fibre feels like a little spark of inspiration waiting to become something special.

Sue, if you see this: thank you. Your kindness travelled a long way, and it arrived exactly when I needed a reminder of the wonderful people this craft brings into my life.

Now that I finally have a moment to breathe, I can’t wait to create something beautiful from these treasures. Stay tuned, my creativity is calling.

Beautiful Fragments · part of my the “What Can You See” Collection.

Pastel softness with threads of colour breaking through, tiny abstract moments held gently in frame.
These pieces come from the place where I completely zone out, lost in materials, in texture, in the rhythm of stitching. I love how the threads choose their own path, creating fragments that invite you to look a little closer.

Thinking of you today, Mam 🥰🌻

On this International Women’s Day, you’re very much on my mind. You’re always with me, always loved.

And a massive thank you to all the women in my life, the ones who have been there in their own ways, who have helped, supported and kept me going. I appreciate you more than you know.
