It's beautiful weather for planting and we are very well stocked with bareroot plants 🌿

🎄 An update from the nursery...

📦 Our picking & packing team are working at full tilt and will continue to dispatch orders over the next few days, order placed from today may be shipped in the new year, if you really hoped for your order to be delivered before Christmas, let us know by email and we will do our very best.

🚗The last date for placing orders online for collection from the nursery is December 22nd.

🎄The Garden Centre is usually closed on Mondays in winter, however we will be OPEN on Monday 22nd December from 10 to 5pm

✨We will be open until 5pm on Tuesday 23rd December and then we will close for our Christmas break from 24th December to 2nd January (inclusive) We will reopen on Saturday 3rd January at 10am as usual.

☕ The Coffee Bee is now CLOSED for the Christmas break and will reopen on Saturday 3rd January from 10 to 4.30pm and Sunday 4th January from 12 to 4.30pm

☎ Our phone lines are open from Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm, please email us [email protected] if you have any enquiry outside of those hours.

🎁 Gift Vouchers - we will continue to send out gift cards for the Garden Centre in the post until Monday 22nd December and you can buy an online voucher for the website anytime.

🍉There are some really gorgeous prizes in this Charity Raffle, the prizes range from hotel stays, art and food hampers to local experiences and gift cards, tickets are just €10 and you can enter as many times as you like.

This raffle is raising funds for Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) Ireland, supporting MSF’s emergency medical teams working in Gaza.

The raffle draw takes place on 2nd December, and all postage costs are covered by Gougane Barra Hotel.

🍂 We are really enjoying our own garden at the moment, the big bed that we planted up along our drive three years ago has really filled in, the Miscanthus are really having their moment, we have a few different varieties planted in groups and repeated along the bed, giving really good structure and gorgeous texture. This is a great year for autumn colour, our Red Oak is just gorgeous right now!

🌿 Future Forests are hiring - please share with anyone who may be interested, thank you!

--- NURSERY ASSISTANT - PACKING PLANTS FOR MAIL ORDER ---

We are looking for someone to join our team for 4 to 5 days a week, from Monday to Thursday/Friday. We have both full time seasonal roles and full time permanent roles available.

WHAT YOU WOULD BE DOING:

🔸 The main focus of this role is packing plants for mail order, the gathering team will have the plants gathered and checked off, you will be required to choose the appropriate packing materials and shipping method for each order and then carefully but efficiently pack the plants for shipping.
🔸 This is a very physical role, you will be on your feet all day, some parcels are very large and bulky and require flexibility and strength.
🔸 On the rare occasion that the packing team runs out of parcels to pack you will be required to do other nursery duties like gathering plants, watering etc.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

✔️ Be physically fit and strong and used to physical work.
✔️ Used to working outdoors - packing is done in a big open shed.
✔️ Have basic computer skills - delivery labels need to be created and printed.
✔️ Pay close attention to details, for example - plant naming, customers addresses etc.
✔️ Be willing to learn - packing plants for mail order is a skill that takes time to learn and we are always improving our materials and methods.
✔️ Ability to work efficiently and manage your own time.
✔️ Someone who also works really well as part of a team.
✔️ Your own transport - there is no public transport out to us unfortunately.
✔️ Plant knowledge is an advantage but not essential.
