We are delighted to show the work of Kathleen Davis as part of the Clifden Arts Festival.
Kathleen is a ceramic sculptor from Roundstone.
The work on display is all hand built and speaks of connections. Kathleen has created a series of vessels as well as sculptural stacking pieces reminiscent of stone built landmarks found along the west coast of Ireland. Also on display are oversized rattle stones, each with a different and particular pitch.
Kathleen uses home spun Connemara wool as part of her work.
Some of these pieces are displayed on a vernacular piece of Irish furniture. This piece of furniture is an Irish May altar and probably dates to the late 18th century.
This work can be viewed in our wren gallery in Recess for the duration of the Arts festival.

This two headed bird is part of a small collection of jewellery that we make exclusively for our shop here in Recess. My friend Paul Grace used his lasering prowess and then I hand painted and assembled them. The range is called ‘Beastly Irish Jewellery’. They are very labour intensive and not really financially viable. I just felt they needed to be in this world.

The Analog Sea Review is back in stock, and luckily I have the first four editions.
The Analog Sea Review is a beautifully produced annual book that features some of the best writers “ever”. These include Virginia Woolf, Borges, Susan Sontag, Wim Wenders, Jung, Robert MacFarlane, Richard Powers + loads and loads more.
The idea behind this publication is that it can only be bought in a physical bricks and mortar bookshop. When I initially ordered them I had to write them a letter. They want to bring books back to bookshops. These tend to sell out pretty fast so if you are interested you have to come in to get it. (No online sales).
They look amazing and when I get them they are lovingly wrapped and presented. @€24 each

Our new Connemara Design Story Blanket has just been delivered and we are so happy. We have been creating a new limited edition blanket every year, for about ten years now. When these blankets sell out they are never repeated no matter how popular they are. The hand woven blanket this year was inspired by the night sky and the Yeats poem ‘Cloths of Heaven’. As usual we are partnering with Tristan at Studio Donegal. He and his team have done an amazing job. The colours we chose match the night sky, and within the threads are inclusions or more technically a ‘nep’ which gives the blankets its shimmering starlight appearance. We also incorporated a hidden infinity symbol within the herringbone pattern.
This blanket comes in two sizes 60x60 inches €250 and 95x60 inches €379.
The 95x60 is golden rectangle and is based on the Fibonacci sequence.

Just arrived in are some exemplary tradition Irish Sciobs or Ciseog’s.
These baskets were traditionally used as a potato strainer or for holding items in the house. These ones were made by Joe Hogan who is considered one of the finest basket makers working in Ireland at the moment. Some of Joes work is is held by the National museum of Ireland and he has represented Ireland in many different exhibitions globally.
We have sizes ranging from 35cm put 1 meter in diameter.
