Brought back some memories……
Way way back ...a very long time ago I used to do the Saturday Galway market every Saturday. I’d get there around 7.30 and would be there until about 2pm. I loved every minute of it and had some great times there. I met wonderful people both fellow traders and customers. I started off doing dried flower arrangements, then expanded to knitting/crochet items and other crafts and for the last 10 or more years there I did home baking. I had a separate home kitchen for this and I ended up supplying many restaurants, cafes and shops with all kinds of cakes, desserts, scones and breads which was both exciting and exhausting at the same time. I was there every Saturday for 14 years and finally stopped about 24 years ago. The summer time was wonderful but the winters were cold and wet on many Saturdays but the camaraderie between the traders back then was priceless. My “pitch” was beside the side entrance gate into St. Nicholas Collegiate church or if your a Galweigan the Town Clock.
Many years ago I did this cartoon sketch of the spot where I stood.... though I did have a proper market stall ..
and going through stuff today I came across it... it brought back happy memories 💞
