✨ MEET OUR GLASGOW MARY ✨

We’re proud to introduce Niamh Brown, representing Glasgow in this year’s Mary from Dungloe International Festival!

Niamh is a 26-year-old from Cambuslang, Glasgow. A graduate of the University of Stirling, she holds both an MSc and BA in Human Resource Management. She currently works as a Human Resources Advisor with Whyte & Mackay, the world renowned Scottish whisky makers behind iconic brands like Dalmore and Jura. In her role, Niamh supports recruitment, employee wellbeing, diversity and inclusion, development, and employee relations.

With deep roots in Donegal, Niamh’s connection to the festival is truly heartfelt. Her late grandfather, Tony Mai Gallagher, was originally from Mullaghduff and famously ran the bus from the Gorbals to Dungloe. Having grown up attending the festival every year, Niamh is honoured and excited to return this summer, this time, as a Mary.

Beyond her professional achievements, Niamh is also a dedicated and competitive athlete. A two-time Scottish Schools Champion in both the 1500m and cross-country, she continues to train and compete at a high level today, from 800m races to half marathons. Her passion for athletics reflects her commitment, drive, and love of a challenge, qualities she brings proudly to her role as the Glasgow Mary.

✨ MEET OUR BIRMINGHAM MARY ✨

We’re proud to introduce Ellen Luff, representing Birmingham in this year’s Mary from Dungloe International Festival!

Ellen is 24 years old and currently completing her PGCE at Warwick University, with plans to begin her career as a secondary school English teacher on July 1st. A passionate advocate for literature, she previously earned a BA in English Literature from Cardiff University and is especially excited to share her love of Irish literature and poetry with the next generation of students.

Ellen has been Irish dancing since the age of 4, and continued her dedication throughout university, where she served as President of the Dance Society. When she’s not in the classroom or dancing, you’ll likely find her with a good book, walking through the countryside with country music in her ears, or enjoying a night at the theatre.

With family roots stretching across Ireland, from Co. Derry and Co. Waterford to Westmeath and Kildare, Ellen is proud of her Irish heritage. Having grown up in Birmingham and Coventry, she feels lucky to be part of such a vibrant Irish community and is overjoyed to now connect with the wonderful community of Dungloe.

We can’t wait to see Ellen shine in Dungloe this summer! 💫
