Man, these locos ran at really slow speeds, limited to 25 mph at Fenit, so a step down motor is required for smooth slow running. Wheelbase is a bit mad, no donor chassis works but we carry on.

Minor departure running a print farm for the last few years, long story, but I'm back doing, making high fidelity stuff for the Irish market.

Shem asked me to to fix some dogsh*t shapeways bodies a million years ago but the easiest thing is just rebuild it, so lets start with the details of the axleboxes, God is in the Detail. More tomorrow folks.

Feeling H***y this Valentine's Day…?

This hobby being a predominantly male preserve, sometimes it may happen, especially at this time of year, that we loose the horn. This may occur by getting snagged in a woolly jumper, a bag of detailing parts going astray, or a random breakage where the original component has been sacrificed to the Floor Fairies.

Some years ago I was lucky enough to get access to the real thing and measured up accordingly. I've produced the Leslie SuperTyfon Airhorns which adorn the 141-181 GM Locomotives. (They are also on 071 and 121 Locos too). These come in packs of 4, in three colour flavours - IE Tippex Orange, IR Supertrain Orange, and C.I.E. Black. These are priced at €7.50 for four (postage not included)

These can be applied with some polystyrene cement, uhu, or superglue. An installation video will be made available on my youtube channel.

This is the horn you've been waiting for, especially for Valentines Day, so treat yourself to something special. I can also be contacted directly at [email protected]

Evening/Morning all!

For the next release whilst I work on the drivers/figures you may have seen recently, are two small accessories to adorn your stock. There are buckets of these complete and ready to ship. So - Be it MM locos, IRM's RTR rolling stock**, SSM or GB's Brake Vans, your homebrew MK3 EGV's, MIR kit builds - as long as it has a lamp bracket, these should do the trick.

There are two designs offered here, the first is the MK2 Unipart Dorman Tail Lamp introduced to the IE Network in late 1990 all over white with a single red lens, and photos show them in mainline use up until 2004, though they were in use on Per Way operations on an ad-hoc basis. Primarly designed for the British Railway network, they featured the iconic BR logo on the face. This was, not unsurprisingly, plated over in IE use.

The second is the MK3 Unipart Dorman Tail Lamp an improvement on it's sibling, introduced with a signal/flouro red panel beneath the lamp with the IE plug/socket logo adorned, introduced in 2000. These are still in use today on ICR's, Per Way Ops, Railtours, Loco's and Kettle's alike.

These are cosmetic only, but have a "lens" of patent pending* material so have a glass like finish. These are hand finished and each one has been checked on a trusty MM 184 for fit. But please be gentle fitting these, if it does not slot into place cleanly, do not force it. Contact me for advice if this occurs.

Each pack comes with 4 tail lamps, painted and ready to fit, in either MK2 or MK3 format, €3.95 for 4, or €6.95 for 8, €13.90 for 16, and so on... Post and Package to ROI/NI is €1.25 and to Great Britain is €1.70. Orders of 5 or more packs come postage free to those jurisdictions.

If you would like to order, please PM me here or send an email directly to [email protected]. Thanks for reading, Richie.

*varnish and food colouring :p
**some lamp brackets on the 42' flats need to be gently pulled out to give clearance. They are push fit parts and I will provide guidance on doing this.
*** Keep it to yerselves, but if you model UK outline, these will also work for UK stock, but I haven't tested any stock so can't give any garauntees about fitment.

Back in 2014 I designed and manufactured a short run of these boards on the IRM Forum, and after quite a few requests of late, I'm happy to announce that the MK2 version, using the latest manufacturing techniques, is now in stock.

This is a pair of single piece polymer boards, with a moulded slot to the rear, which mounts onto the existing Murphy Model 071/141/181 locomotives lamp brackets, sitting at the correct height and spacing, per prototype. The righthand board is notched to assist with locating, though this is known to have found itself on the left hand side in operation.

These are ready for immediate dispatch and the price is €4.95 for a pair (& €1.25 P&P) for orders within ROI and NI. Price for GB is slightly higher at €1.95. P&P is free for orders of 3 packs or more for these 3 postal zones. For all other locations, please email me at [email protected] or PM me here, and I'll be more than happy to organise delivery. If you would like them gently weathered, this can be accommodated at no extra cost.
