In 2017, in his first full season with Shamrock Rovers, crumlin man Roberto Lopes put in some great performances in the UEFA Europa League, demonstrating some great promise and panache. At the time he was a former irish u19 international (2011, but must have thought there was a good chance senior international football had passed him by.

A decade later, he has become an immortal as he represented his dads native Cape Verde with distinction in a famous 0-0 draw at the World Cup against reigning European champions (and former world cup winners) Spain.

You could describe it as a fairy tale, but its 100% real and 100% history in the making. And we love it! Well done Pico 👍

Let's get ready to rumble!🥊The world's worst kept secret has been confirmed with Katie Taylor, one of Ireland's greatest sporting athletes, fighting a historic final bout in Croke Park, the first fight in Croker since the greatest of all time Muhammad Ali had an 11th round technical knockout victory against Al "Blue" Lewis in 1972.

Now we just need to get tickets!

RIP Fergus Slattery, a ferocious force of nature on the rugby pitch, and a model gentleman off it. Few players played in as many iconic teams, and fewer still made as big an impression in them - whether for Ireland (peaking with the famous 1982 Triple Crown Championship winning side), the Lions (especially the 1974 invincibles tour), the Barbarians (in particular the famous 1973 test against the ABs) as well as his beloved Blackrock College and the Irish Wolfhounds (as pictured here).

A consummate professional in the amateur era, he was hugely respected and admired, and his legend will remain for generations to come.

Congratulations to Everton's Braiden Graham who has been called up to the Northern Ireland senior squad for the first time - if he plays he will join Alec McCartney (1905 home nations championship games v england and scotland) and Joe Kendrick (1927 v Italy B, the FAI's first international match after the olympics, in which he also played) in earning a senior irish cap having not yet made a first team appearance at Everton Football Club!

Braiden has been on the radar a long time since impressively debuting for linfield's first team at the tender age of 15 - still a few months older than Evan Ferguson, who holds the record for the youngest first team appearance for an Irish club (debuting for Bohs at the age of 14 years and 338 days in 2019).

as well as the thousands of shirts that will be for sale at Kit Con Éire this weekend, we will also be doing a "not for sale" museum display, specially curated on this occasion with reference mainly to cork and munster.

We've pulled a small selection for advance of viewing of some of the historic items that will be on display in the attached video, some real history here, hope you enjoy watching!

But nothing beats seeing these items (and the other display items we'll have over the weekend) in real life, so get onto kit con eire and order your tickets now (y)

Note: as per the video showing some of the shirts for sale, apologies for the appearance of looking up in the video - the tripod was lower than I wanted and I didn't realise the angle was looking up at me until after the video was filmed!

Also note in trying to recite the various details on the different shirts, I got confused on the cork hurling shirt (and boots!), they're actually from the 1954 final v Wexford (and the cork hurlers won the 3 in a row between 52 and 54, with the munster blue colour being worn in th emiddle v Galway!) :)

Really looking forward to Kit Con Éire this weekend , Saturday and Sunday in Cork! To whet the appetite we've pulled together a short video with a small selection of some interesting shirts from football, rugby and gaa from the thousands of tops that we'll have for sale on the weekend.

We don't sell online and it's first come, first served, so get your tickets now and get in early on Saturday or Sunday to give yourself the best chance of picking up a real gem :)

Btw apologies for looking above the camera - I was filming myself and am not used to a tripod mounted camera lol
