Who was your favourite author or story as a child?

Mine was Astrid Lindgren, who wrote Pippi Longstocking 🙂

Umberto Eco famously coined the word "antilibrary" to describe a collection of books that are owned but have not yet been read.

For him, a library of mostly unread books is far more inspiring than a library of books already read.

He knew all about it as he had 50,000 volumes in his personal library in Bologna! 😀

We are lucky to have 3 amazing books by this world-renowned Italian intellectual, philosopher, novelist and political and social commentator:

The infinity of lists, a beautifully illustrated essay that explores how Western culture uses lists to make infinity comprehensible and impose order on chaos.

A theory of semiotics, the first English language edition published by The University of Indiana in 1976, and Travels in hyper reality, also the first English language edition, also published in the US.

As Umberto Eco said, it's perfectly fine to buy books and keep them in your library to read them at a later stage! 😃

This is a very special and rare book, and a comprehensive "who's who" of Dublin's commercial landscape during the late Victorian era.

The Industries of Dublin: Historical, Statistical, Biographical. Account of the Leading Business Men, Commercial Interests, Wealth and Growth
is a landmark commercial directory published in 1887.

Profusely illustrated with fine drawings of Dublin's streetscape, it lists all the establishments of the time including some notable ones, like
Brown Thomas, Bewley’s (Grafton Street), Arnott & Co. (Henry Street), The Irish House (Wood Quay), John Power & Son, Distillers.

A real gem and of great interest to historians and collectors!
