Ambivalence by Brian Dillon is out now. Described as at once a memoir of Dublin city in the 1980s and 1990s, an uncynical portrait of the adolescent and early-adult mind, and an intimate defence of radical thinking about literature and life. His conversation with Mark O’Connell is taking place here this Friday but is already fully booked. To be added to the cancellation list please email: [email protected]

We were delighted to host the jam-packed launched for Tom Burne Has Left The Chat by Sean Farrelly last week. This YA debut novel brilliantly explores grief, friendship and teenage loneliness - it is as funny as it is moving, as was very evident from Sean’s gorgeous reading. Faber’s commissioning editor Ama Badu spoke about the book’s honesty, warmth and importance and by the end of the night there wasn’t a copy left in the shop! (Since back in stock!) Huge congratulations to and thanks to the lovely crowd who joined us for the celebration ❤️‍🔥

It was a pleasure to host The Belvedere Literary Journal yesterday for their panel Early Days: The path to publication and beyond. Managing Editor Kasandra Ferguson did a fantastic job moderating a conversation with esteemed writers Gustav Parker Hibbet, Louise Nealon & Colin Barrett 🌟 A veritable feast of inspiration and good solid advice for aspiring authors in the audience. Looking forward to the next issue of the journal publishing this August 🩵
(Re pic 8, can’t tag the dog as not official member of the panel sadly 🐶)

A few photos from the very fun launch of CTRL: Essays on Video Games last week.
