Lithium batteries are everywhere - powering our smartphones, laptops, tablets, e-bikes, and more. But did you know they can overheat or even catch fire if not handled properly? Accidents and injuries from lithium batteries are on the rise, so it’s important to use and dispose of them safely.

WEEE Ireland urging users not to bin the vapes ♻️

VA**RS in Galway are being urged to never bin their vapes as only six per cent of the 25 million vapes returned for recycling last year.

Recent figures from Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Ireland indicate that out of the 25 million vapes sold in Ireland last year, only 1.4 million returned for recycling while 23.6 million were simply thrown away or dumped in household bins.

'Valuable resources lost forever': Carlow people urged not to throw vapes in the bin ♻️

Carlow va**rs are being urged to never bin their vapes as it is causing serious environmental and fire risks and "valuable resources to be lost forever."

Of the over 25 million vapes sold last year, only 1.4 million were disposed of correctly and returned for recycling.

23.6 million vapes thrown away or dumped in household bins ♻️

Only 1.4 million of the 25 million vapes sold last year in counties covered by Ireland’s largest e-waste recycling scheme, were returned for recycling, new data shows.

An alarming 23.6 million were simply thrown away or dumped in household bins, according to new figures from Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Ireland – with the lithium batteries, electrical parts and plastic they contain lost forever.
