Narrowing down Pink Floyd’s 70s output to a single lp is no easy task, but this new compilation does a great job of weaving sone of the bands most essential and recognisable work together as one of cohesive piece. As close as you’re getting to a succinct greatest hits for this classic band.

8-Tracks features eight essential classics selected from the Pink Floyd’s 1971 - 1979 era.

The track list includes the instantly recognisable hits ‘Money’, ‘Wish You Were Here’, ‘Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2’, ‘Time’ and ‘Comfortably Numb’, alongside earlier cuts in ‘One Of These Days’ and ‘Wot’s… Uh The Deal’, as well as an exclusive full version of ‘Pigs On The Wing’, previously available only on the 1977 Animals 8-Track cartridge release. Paddywhackery follows up 2023’s hugely acclaimed Irish Rock’n’Roll. That album saw the band grow in confidence, writing their own songs for the first time. Paddywhackery finds them leaping forwards to create an album that sounds like it’s been made by a band with a tightness and a power that’s unparalleled in music right now.

Recorded in an intense two-week period in Liverpool with producer James Skelly and engineer Chris Taylor, Paddywhackery lets the band’s grand wildness shine through and allows their songs to flow out of the speakers with the kind of verve and potency that will make you - the listener - press play again, and again, and again.

Andrew and Charles Hendy on the album: “It’s mainly about the fact that people would call us “paddywhackery” because we are too Irish or whatever, but it’s all very fu***ng hip to be Irish the last couple of years, and maybe that’s performative too, it’s very sincere. If all you do is serious songs, it sterilises everything. It becomes like there’s only one human emotion and its seriousness. People are terrified of being laughed at. If people are going to call us paddywhackery anyway, we might as well just call the album Paddywhackery. So its more of a “f**k you” than anything else. We want to spread like a virus and destroy anyone who thinks they are above The Mary Wallopers”

The Smashing Pumpkins’ 1991 debut Gish is back on vinyl, complete with its original cover artwork restored.

Often grouped alongside the alternative rock giants of the era, Gish carved out its own path, drawing equally from classic rock, psychedelia, prog and metal. Based in New York, YHWH Nailgun have built a reputation on music that is visceral, immediate, and impossible to neatly categorize. What began in 2020 as the raw collision between vocalist Zack Borzone and drummer Sam Pickard has since evolved into a full four-piece alongside guitarist/producer Saguiv Rosenstock and synth player Jack Tobias. Their new album Magazine further sharpens the band’s uncompromising vision.

Across 10 tracks that unfold in just 11 minutes, Magazine pushes YHWH Nailgun’s sound into even more skeletal and immediate territory. Opening with the slow fade-in of ‘Ghost of Love’, the record feels less like a conventional album than a fragment pulled from an endless transmission. The band balances chaos with precision: frantic guitars, bruising percussion, air-raid synths, and Borzone’s now-unmasked vocals, delivered with a newfound clarity that brings his surreal, religiously charged imagery into sharper focus. Magazine was previewed last month at C2C Festival NYC with the band performing the record in its 11-minute entirety before abruptly exiting the stage. Known for their dynamic and volatile live shows, the performance generated equal parts confusion and excitement.

While their acclaimed 2025 debut 45 Pounds introduced the band’s feral intensity, Magazine strips away abstraction in favour of something even more direct. Pickard’s drums are leaner, Rosenstock’s production more exposed, and Borzone’s lyrics—filled with visions of blood, serpents, God, and the Devil—take centre stage. Despite the extremity of their sound, the band approaches their music with instinct over self-consciousness, building what they describe as an autonomous creative world unconcerned with trends or reactionary impulses.

Rooted in improvisation and the pursuit of “quick bursts” of inspiration, YHWH Nailgun continues to refine a sound that feels both confrontational and strangely transcendent - music that resists definition while fully committing to its own singular language.

Dervish is a celebrated Irish traditional folk band from County Sligo, formed in 1989. Fronted by charismatic singer and multi-instrumentalist Cathy Jordan, the ensemble also includes accomplished players on flute, fiddle, guitar, accordion, and mandola, drawing deeply on the rich musical heritage of northwest Ireland. For more than three decades, they’ve become one of the most respected names in Irish music, known for their dynamic live performances and a repertoire that weaves traditional Irish music with songs by contemporary Irish songwriters. The BBC, which presented the band with a lifetime achievement award in 2019, has described Dervish as “an icon of Irish music,” and the group has represented Ireland on stages from Glastonbury to Rock in Rio.

In 2019, they released The Great Irish Songbook, an album of traditional Irish songs featuring guests including Vince Gill, the SteelDrivers, Rhiannon Giddens, Steve Earle, David Gray, and others. For their new album The Great Irish Songbook, Vol 2: Poets & Storytellers, they shifted their focus to works by modern masters of Irish songcraft including Sinead O’Connor, Shane MacGowan, Van Morrison, Glen Hansard, and Moya Brennan. They enlisted another stellar group of guest artists including Indigo Girls, Aoife O’Donovan, Iron & Wine, Sarah Jarosz, Sister Sadie, Madeleine Peyroux, the Del McCoury Band, Eddi Reader, and the aforementioned Glen Hansard and Moya Brennan.
