Step one to any dye project is understanding what you are working with. ⁠

Like anyone who's ever bought makeup online will know, the swatch on the computer is always a little different in real life. Everytime I order new colours of dye, I set out an afternoon to mix up a small batch and test them all on scrap fabric. ⁠
⁠
This is also an appreciation post for yogurt containers, pickle jars, and all the nice people on the internet who gave me their stained baby clothes to test on. ⁠

Super Bloom masks are now online! A limited, first batch is available for sale on my Etsy shop. Link in Bio.

Both the interior and exterior fabric are GOTS Organic Cotton and hand-dyed by me. All expertly sewn together by my collaborator

Dyeing in January between hail showers in my outdoor 'studio' is not glamourous, but the freezing temperatures have made for some really interesting effects on the fabric. So all will be worth it in the end ❄️

I've paused the online shop for some winter rest and regrouping, but I'll be back promptly in January with new colours for a New Year. Thank you so much to everyone who ordered from me this year. For people who ordered gifts, 🤞🏻🤞🏻 they like it!!

Really looking forward to brighter days (literally & figuratively). As magical as this time of year can be, it can also be really difficult for a lot of us. This is another little reminder to be extra compassionate and patient with yourself. Oh and please (for the love of god) be nice to people in service positions. See you in 2021❤️

You may have noticed that I occasionally say 'we' when referring to the shop. Well, technically it's just me here. However, so many people in my life have been kind enough to help me along the way, that Super Bloom often feels more like a 'we.'
So after my first full week in business and my first 10 sales, I wanted to acknowledge some of those lovely humans:

SOCKS! Some samples arrived this week and, folks, I think they are the ones.
I've wanted to do hand-dyed socks since day one. Anyone who knows me, knows what a soft spot I have for fun socks. My first retail job was actually in a sock shop!
However it took me a decent amount of shopping around to find socks that were environmentally up to scratch. These DREAM socks are made from a blend of h**p and organic cotton. H**p is a very eco-friendly crop as it requires very little water and no pesticides to grow! The fabric is soft, durable, and hopefully very tie-dye-able. More news soon fellow sock lovers 🧦
