It is time to say goodbye...

Our small weekend side-project created in April 2020 to promote independent Irish producers became a directory of 864 online stores! A year has passed in the blink of an eye.

As with all the journeys, this one is coming to an end. From April 19th 2021 we are not going to include additional stores within the directory.

The site will remain up and running!

After 12 months of weekly updates we think it’s a good time to move on to other things.

Simon is running his own business and I’m starting my own journey as a designer and illustrator. You can see my work at Solomenko.com.

Continuing on the topic of love: why not show some to our dear planet Earth🌿 this st. Valentine's?

I picked up a few fantastic environmentally cautious stores from our directory. Maybe this is the month and year when you might try new products and build new habits? All while supporting small local business.

I have recently purchased bee wax wraps 🐝 as an alternative to cling film. And they are fantastic! So easy to use and keep products fresh for long.

MADE IN IRELAND intends to celebrate the skill and vitality of the island’s makers, and inspire pride in the remarkable and distinctive work being created in Ireland today.

Submissions are invited from all skilled Irish makers; those with extensive exhibition experience, and those quiet makers who are stepping into the limelight for the first time.

By the sheer amount of ❤️ and 🧸 in my feed I can say that St. Valentine's is approaching. I am a VERY romantic person ( can confirm) but I always try to ignore that day. It feels overy commercial. I simply do not believe that "I love you" should be said only once per year. Particularly in the isolating times like now. So there won't be any gift ideas from me. Sorry.

Instead, how about starting with some self love instead?

Be it a nice new bedding, a cool top, a piece of jewellery with a special message that only you can understand, a candle to indulge your sense or a flower subscription just for yourself. Here are a couple of ideas to inspire you from our long list of shops. 

But there is also no need to buy anything. A long walk, a good read with a cup of tea, nice long bath… You've got the idea. 

Treat yourself. You deserve it! 

And if there is more self love in this World there definitely will be more love overall. 

It's nearly spring, we nearly made it.

JustBuyIrish.com was born in April and grew into a directory of more than 650 online stores that deliver to the door. It was an exciting journey for us, a weekend project that we shared with thousands of Irish people.

We hope we’ve helped you discover more of the amazing variety and quality of Irish makers and stores on our island.

There is still a long list of shops to be added to the directory, so more for us to share in 2021.

For now we are taking a short holiday break. See you in January.
