Today marks World Horse Day, arising out of resolution no 79/291, adopted by United Nations General Assembly on 3 June 2025, declaring the day to be one that recognises timeless partnerships that have developed between man and animal, such as that of with the horse.
"Few animals have contributed to human progress as profoundly — and quietly — as the horse. From ancient nomads on the Eurasian steppes to modern Olympic arenas and backyard barns, horses have carried goods, ploughed fields, won wars and comforted hearts." – https://www.un.org/en/observances/horse-day
T.J. Gillespie (aka Tom na gCapailín), was one such horse enthusiast, who also wrote about the experience. His knowledge and wisdom is contained in his book, I Want to Really Learn about Horses, available in print and e-book editions, published under the imprint of The Manuscript Publisher.
Sadly, Tom passed away in 2021, but lessons of what he had to share remain forever enshrined in the book, which remains in print as it has been since first published in 2010.
