Everyone knows Shakespeare - he's the world's most famous playwright!

The exact day of his birth is not recorded but we know he is baptised on Wednesday 26 April 1564. As baptisms typically took place within three days of a new arrival and parents were instructed to ensure that their children were baptised no later than the first Sunday after birth. This means that it's unlikely Shakespeare was born any earlier than the previous Sunday, 23 April.

Happy Birthday Shakespeare 🥳🎂

He also died on 23 April in 1616. and in his life of 52 years he invented 1,700 words that we still use today - moonbeam, amazement, lonely, bloodstained or gloomy. And phrases too - wearing your heart on your sleeve.
