The Skate fishing season got underway in Courtmacsherry today our first female Frapper skate of 1.22M caught by Dutch angler Marnix (tagged and released)aboard the Lady Patricia skippered by Chris O Connell ,the group are regular visitors to Courtmacsherry and the tour is led by Dirk-Jan whose been fishing in Courtmacsherry for over 20 years,other fish included Pollack,Coalfish,Cod,Pouting,wrasse ,cuckoo and Ballan and Dogfish.The conditions were improving and it was to be able to get to sea after the poor conditions of late.we have full charter available and individual seats will be available later in the summer,our self drive boats are also available for inshore and estuary fishing.For more info log on to www.courtmacsherryangling.ie

We had super day at the Sea Parade in Courtmacsherry as part of our St Patrick’s day celebrations,all the local fleet took part led by our Lifeboat Val Adams .

On the 27/28th Sept Philip and his angling buddies saw a welcome break in the weather and headed down to Courtmacsherry for a 2 day charter staying in the Coastal Cottages self catering, part of the Courtmacsherry hotel complex.On the first day they fished in the bay where they caught Pollack,Cod,Bullhuss,dogfish,conger,Coalfish and mackerel.On the 2nd day they were a bit more adventurous and deceided to head south for a days Sharking .Ronan their skipper on the Lady Patricia deceided to try a wreck before starting a shark drift,Several good Ling were landed to 20 lbs,conger and unusual for wreck fishing 2 whopping skate one an Irish Soecimen landed by John Mackey,also caught were stone bass and specimen whiting .Drifting for Shark produced fish near specimen weight.on the inshore front great bass fishing with fish to 76cm landed all on live joeys.

It’s been a few tough weeks coping with all the low pressure systems coming across the Atlantic playing havoc with our groups chartering the Lady Louise and Lady Patricia ,today we managed to get out to sea with a group led by Luc Morris a regular whose been coming to Courtmacsherry for over 20 years,he was joined by Rinus Hage whose on his 2nd visit and has also been enjoying fishing holidays in Courtmacsherry for over 50 years,together with Robert,Marc,Raf ,Guy,Willie and Irish angler Paul Cusack fished from 0900 to 1600 hrs,pollack very scarce with Bullhuss ,Ling,dogfish and a nice spurdog for Paul making up the catch.
The weathers due to be kinder to us on Friday and prospects next week are looking good,maybe a chance to go south for something big or a Tuna!
