I got asked this question recently and it made me stop and think because there are so many amazing knitters who have been in all kinds of roles like Elizabeth Zimmerman and Michelle Obama.

Think of the questions you could ask either of those people. It makes you think just how many great knitters have not only come before us but also are here creating something amazing and sharing it daily.

Do you know your knitting style?

One of the things I love the most about knitting classes is seeing how all of you knit and all the ways you've personalised it for your tensions and comfort.

I get asked all the time how I manage my speed, so I wanted to slow it down for you.

I recently discovered my style is called lever knitting.

This technique is all about using your left hand to move the needle, allowing the right to slide up and down between my right thumb and index finger.

Have you tried this knitting style before?

Do you enjoy working with silk yarn?

Here are a few tips I share with our students:

1. Watch your tension; silk has very little elasticity, so it can be tricky to keep your gauge consistent.

2. If it feels slippery, try switching to bamboo or wooden needles for a bit more grip.

3. Knit and block your swatch; silk can G R O W

Tip 3 helps you understand how your fabric will behave and adjust accordingly. You might even consider testing how it grows when hung vertically. Great for popping a few pegs on the bottom to see how much it'll stretch.

If you’ve knit with silk before, what did you make with it? 👇
And more importantly… how did it turn out?

Do you like to wear openworked lace sweaters in summer? Meet Spritz Stripes.

Knit in the round from the bottom up on 3.5mm needles using fi*****ng weight yarn, the body splits at the yoke and the front and back are worked separately. Sleeves are picked up from the armhole and worked in the round to the cuff.
