💔 Nine Crows Cork is Closing 💔
Closing down sale runs from tomorrow Friday 16th till Sunday 25th May. Come see us and say goodbye ❤️
We’re gutted to say that the next two weeks will be the last for Nine Crows Cork.
We’ve had such an amazing few years in Cork and are so grateful for all of the love and support we got from this amazing city during that time. We are really proud of our Cork team and the community they built around our shop from day one, the stories of chance encounters and friends made through our shop mean so much to us. Our wonderful team down there have made this decision even harder to make.
Unfortunately the cost of simply opening our doors has nearly doubled in the last couple of years and has slowly made it impossible for us to keep trading as we were. This is even with an incredibly kind landlord to whom we are really grateful.
The reality is that changing shopping habits towards cheap online alternatives, dropping tourist numbers, the mass immigration of our vibrant young people, alongside a rental, rates and tax system that seems to be set up against small businesses, makes it nearly impossible to run a homegrown business in Ireland right now.
We’ve been in business for almost 15 years now and though the economy is apparently booming, things have never been harder. Every business owner we know tells the same story of a system that doesn’t seem to care about the independent sector and isn’t concerned by its decline.
Put simply, if something doesn’t change soon there will be very few of us left.
Nine Crows Temple Bar and Loot on Drury Street are open and full of beautiful new stock and we’re so happy to be able to offer you the clothes you love there.
As we’ve said before, Amazon, Shein, IKEA etc may not notice your support, but we and all of the independent businesses that give this country its soul definitely do.
Lots of love,
Emma and everyone at Nine Crows
