Beth Moran Handweaver High quality natural fibre hand woven rugs, scarfs & clothing. Hand weaving and spinning courses on The course runs from 10A.M. to 4 P.M.

Formally known as, The Ballytoughey Loom, Beth Moran Handweaver is a small cottage industry producing high quality natural fibre hand woven goods. I have been trading for the last 30 years and have established and international reputation for my work. My focus is primarily on colour and pattern and for the most part each piece is unique. My range of work runs from very fine silk to home grown, hom

e spun and naturally dyed rugs. Situated on Clare Island in an unspoiled environment with a population of 140 people affords a unique opportunity both in the landscape and the people for an intimate experience of inspiration. We have a small farm of sheep which is a ready resource of wool for spinning and the land has many indigenous plants for dye materials. I am actively involved with the Crafts Council of Ireland and the Irish Guild of Spinners Weavers and Dyers and do regular shows both here and abroad. As well, we have a small outlet at our workshop on Clare Island which is open from April to October and otherwise by appointment. Weekend Courses (Suspended due to Covid)

A weekend course covering the basics of spinning, weaving and natural dying. As always we will focus on what the group wants and also within the group there will be space to individualize with groups kept at a maximum of 4. first two days and finishes at lunchtime on the third day. Week long workshops

This week long workshop will give an opportunity to explore deeper into the setting up process in weaving and the preparation needed to visualize a project. We will also look at different plants and methods within the naturally dying process. As always we will facilitate individuals to focus on their own particular areas of interest. This is possible due to the size of groups (maximum 4) The course runs from 10A.M. finishing on Friday at lunchtime. Courses can be arranged for individual and small groups at times outside those listed and can be tailored to suit the individuals or groups needs in terms of focus and content for the course. This will depend on the availability of the workshop facility at the times chosen.
