The Clifden Bookshop

The Clifden Bookshop offers one of the most comprehensive and diverse collection of books about Connemara—from guide books, maps and local history to memoirs, Irish literature and picture books from local artists and musicians—if it’s about Connemara, you’ll find it right here at The Clifden Bookshop in Main Street, Clifden.

‘Wisdom and Memories, A Collection of Connemara Legacies’ is a wonderful new local publication based on legacy letters written by 20 family carers and older people living in Connemara.

Inspiring life stories, family traditions, handed down skills, anecdotes and personal memories of each participant in the Legacy Project are accompanied by striking photo portraits.

The result is a truly special Connemara publication celebrating and acknowledging just some of the valued older people in our community.

Following the launch event by FORUM Connemara CLG recently, copies are now on sale here at the bookshop and are €15.

Well done to all involved in this meaningful and inspiring community project 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

We were all really delighted to be the winners of this year’s Best Window competition, especially Cora who was instrumental (forgive the pun 🫣😉 🪗🎻) in designing and constructing this year’s display.
