Today is made local day with Design & Crafts Council Ireland, a day to remind people of the beautiful Irish-made pieces available when they shop locally, especially as we head into the festive season.

This is a photo of custom making an Irish Yew guitar nut with a brass leading edge for added strength and tone.

Happy Halloween, here's some scary good pickups samples. A pickup comparison video, comparing a lace sensor, an eric johnson and a moondot handwound pickup, clean and overdriven
Background video is produced using open source Ardour DAW, ran through audio spectrum analyzer, LADSPA plugin, hope you enjoy.

We are hosting a talk/workshop for We will discuss and debate the finer points of design and planned obsolescence. Bring along broken equipment, to examine and maybe even fix. Each person will take home a tree to plant, and there will be tea, coffee, cake and sandwiches

A big thank you to Comerford Handcrafted Guitars for these very kind words.

These pickups are handwound by in Co.Monaghan, and potted using local beeswax. They have a beautiful broad frequency response with big full lows and all the high end sparkle you could want, together with a gentle mid growl when you dig in. I love these things!
