Well I gave up waiting for better lighting because it’s going to keep raining forever…. Fortunately she’s fabulous in all light! I don’t know how .stories knew we were searching for something exactly like this but we’re delighted they did. It’s beautiful and even the 10 year old wants to do her homework here (possibly because it’s opposite the tv though so that’s not happening!)

I tried! I really did! I didn’t need any more artwork and I wasn’t going to buy any. But 10 minutes through the gate at and I stumbled on .co.uk, and my willpower put up zero fight. Richard has reams of amazing art works and I couldn’t leave without this beautiful copy of Tamara De Lempika’s stunning painting. I was sorely sorely tempted by these gorgeous ‘70s line drawings too - a little remorse there for not going for it 🤦🏼‍♀️.

It’s no secret that I’m addicted to buying art everywhere I go. So it’s about time I dedicated an entire room solely to it! Previously the Dumping Ground and now the much more inspirational Study, I’ve dealt with the mould, painted over the pink and green, cleared out the rubbish, and finally made a functional space. (and I still have space for even more art!)

“And WHAT did you buy in Bali?!” I hear my interior designer friends cry!
Well, I have about 60kg available and FORTUNES COULD BE SPENT, but I bought beautiful brasses, a very characterful Balinese mask, and these fabulous mini umbrellas (yes I wanted to bring big ones home, and I even sourced a courier, but I get a little out of control 🤷‍♀️, and it’s not conducive to a relaxing trip for everyone else!). I also want desperately one of these Rindiks! They make a beautiful noise, reminiscent of rain fall, and I think the kids could crash away on them outside and it would be charming, not annoying 😂. I haven’t found one yet so the airport may be my last hope before I go straight to shipping one over - back to DHL again!

It’s the time of year for gifting, so I’ve bought myself a present from !! My annual advent calendar of a Polaroid a day is my favourite Christmas tradition at Spencer Towers. And now I have the most PERFECT way to look back on them. I have spent a few happy hours this week sticking each year’s collection in and I’m absolutely delighted!!! This is not an ad, I’m just bloody thrilled!

We love being able to take city breaks with Bear! Ever since she first learnt about macarons when she was 3, she’s wanted to go to Paris! Well it’s as good a reason as any so as soon as her legs could hack the walking, off we went. 9years old is a great age for a Parisian experience: she’s old enough to experience and absorb the culture, knew enough about impressionist artists so make a trip to Montmartre applicable, got to practise a little French and hone her (impressive) accent…. But young enough for us to experience the city with new eyes and dig up some spots we’d never seen! La Belle Bear, La Belle Paris!

One of my favourite shops in the world 🙌🏻. This place is a treasure trove of dishes, glassware, cutlery, quirky art and more. I would have walked away with 6 of these stunning peachy goblets, but I’m not confident I wouldn’t open my case to shards of glass 😬. I did walk away with a gem, and still have a couple of days…..so probably will end up with the glasses anyway!

So if I’m honest, the UAE was pretty far down on my list of places to go, but it turns out, when my rubber arm was forced, I could get used to having my every whim catered to whilst rolling into my choice of pools and barely parenting! As Bear says, “would come again! 10/10”

Every single year, the mum I have lets me know she remembers the mum I lost. I always find my emotions a little less manageable this time of year. I erupt a little quicker, I feel a little less connected, and I don’t generally want to think about anything but it being over. And then flowers arrive. Every: Single .Year. And every time I remember how lucky I am to have her. So though she won’t see this, you all need to know that I have a fantastic stepmum and I wouldn’t be who I am without her!

She also taught me how to make a roast, and I make the best so there’s that too!
