Here's how to find out the characteristics of genuine pearls by doing a touch test:
1. The pearl rub swipe test on your front teeth
Hold the pearl with your thumb and index finger. Swipe gently and press gently on your front teeth, genuine pearls will usually have a somewhat rough or gritty texture due to imperfect surfaces (such as small scales) on the outer layer of the nacre. Fake pearls are usually made of glass or plastic so that the surface is almost perfectly smooth, and if you rub against your teeth it will feel very slippery like rubbing against the teeth.
2. SUCCESSFUL PEARL AGAINST ONE OTHER.
Hold the two pearls on your fingers and gently rub them against each other, feeling the slight sensation of friction. Because the outer layer of the original pearl is not perfectly smooth so when it is swiped it will feel the sensation of friction of fine sand, while fake pearls will feel smooth rubbing like rubbing two marbles of smooth glass. In genuine pearls, sometimes some nacre can be damaged if it is swiped, so be careful when you swipe it.
3. See the shape of the pearl, is it perfectly round?
Because genuine pearls are natural fabric, pearls are very common, do not have a perfectly round shape, most of them are semi-round or even oblong, and have a few minor defects. Beware of perfectly round uniform pearls, because it is very possible that they are imitation pearls or artificial pearls (such as uniform prayer beads made by the factory).

4.4. Feel the coolness of the pearls when touched.
For this test, you need some pearls that have been stored (not what you have used), hold the pearl in your hand and concentrate on the pearl when in contact with your skin. Real pearls will feel cold for a few seconds before they rise in temperature. This feeling is similar to what you get from stepping barefoot onto a marble floor. Plastic pearls or fake pearls tend to warm up to room temperature soon.
