I've been on a 1/300 kick - the last few months have seen 5 new 1/300 models completed (this is the second), 4 more under construction (two of which are the same class and just have minor variations), and another 2 planned.

But let's focus on the one at hand, shall we? I've finished the complete rebuild for the USS Nevada, BB-36, as she appeared in 1944. I used the Navy's Booklet of General Plans for the model to try and make the model as accurate and faithful to the ship as possible. Compared to my earlier version of the Nevada (whose silouhette is BSD's logo if you didn't know), it's much more proportionately accurate and detailed. This is entirely thanks to scaling the BoGP by deck and having the blueprints within Studio for direct comparison as opposed to just using my eye with the first one since that feature wasn't yet available. When I completed it, this was immediately one of my favorites, though she has already been pushed back one spot by one coming soon.

First of all - Instagram decreased the number of hashtags. That's freakin dumb and now I have to go hack and edit all my base descriptions of the imagI. GG Instagram as always.

ANYWAY, today we've got what I teased a little while back: the COMPREHENSIVE update of my 1/300 model of the Georgios Averof! Those of you who have been here a while know I'm a little crazy about this ship. And so I figured why not do an update since I haven't done a true ground-up rework of this model ever. So I threw out the original one and started new. And I'm very happy! This one is better proportioned all the way around (main turrets and freeboard, looking at you) and I was able to get it ALMOST the exact way I want it in PURE Lego color pieces. The only one that I can't yet are the new 1x4 slopes in DBG, which aren't even used in the render but in the final model would be at the stern.

Anyway (again), I figured we needed a new post to wrap out the year since this year has been somewhat less eventful than years past in terms of new builds.

Hey everybody! I promise I'm still here and doing things! I know it's been a VERY slow year in terms of new designs and such, but that's not because I'm getting tired of the hobby or anything. I've just been entirely focused on kits for the Battleship Texas and two other naval museums that I haven't had a whole lot of time to do design work on new models. What time I HAVE had has gone towards... well that's a bit of a secret unless you look at the second picture.

New build coming soon. Plus a whole bunch of new, big moves company wise.

It's been a minute, mainly because we've been working behind the scenes on several new collaborations and an expansion to our current collaboration with the Battleship Texas. I do have a bunch of "new" never before seen models to show off, but pretty much all my non work time that I can focus on BSD goes towards those ongoing projects. Hence the quietness.

Anyway, here is one of those "new" models: the Lusitania in 1/1200 scale! It goes great with both Titanic and United States, which I have shown, and the several other MiniFleet scale liners I have done and physically test built but haven't shown yet. And if you scroll, you can see the result of me finding out that apparently one of her propellers was salvaged and is now on display semi locally to me. Of course I had to go and take a picture next to her ACTUAL propeller. And the same thing will happen when I finish the 1/500 model as well!

Today I've got the second ocean liner I've ever completed: the SS United States.

I'm sure most, if not all of the people who are following my accounts know of the news that the ship is to be sunk as an artifical reef. The level of interest has skyrocketed over the last year or so, and I really hope that people remember the United States as they do the Enterprise (CV-6), which should have been a museum but was lost due to lack of interest.

Anyway, back to the model! This one has been an absolute pain to design. Liners in general are difficult to design at this scale because of the different level of curve compared to warships. But United States? My design had the hinge for the bow deck placed RIGHT where the bridge is, and no matter what I tried I could not move things around to make them work and still line up. And the stacks? Good lord... The stacks are the biggest cluster of things that should not work but do I've ever designed. Except for they require a brand new piece in red that isn't available yet so I pulled out some pliers and sandpaper and made it happen... purists, look away!

But she looks great, though, doesn't she?

Howdy everyone!

After some thought, we've decided to truly embrace the name "BrickshipsDesigns". Lego bricks are old news, everyone knows it. The real future is in model battleships built out of clay bricks. Therefore, from now on, all BSD posts will be photos of battleships made from clay bricks.

Happy April first!

As a note, AI photo generation is kinda cool sometimes 😉

Happy Valenti- Bismarck Launch Day! What better time to show the new MiniFleet Bismarck than the day the real ship was launched?

This model has undergone MULTIPLE revisions since I first designed it (almost a year ago now actually 👀), and while I'm still not 100% happy with some of the superstructure area I am overall really happy with it, especially at this scale.

Now I just need to get some custom printed tiles for the Baltic paint the ship wore...

So silly me, with all the 1/1200 models I've already finished I didn't realize the snow day was the first official show-off of the new Titanic! Here she is in all her tiny glory, the MiniFleet Titanic! Obviously the test build went together perfectly fine, and I am absolutely ecstatic about how well this (and the other MiniFleets which are going to be shown over the next few months; yes, I already have that many designed) have come out!

Last render includes printed smokestacks, which is what the kit will eventually have.

Today we've got a return to form for this account! After realizing that I haven't shown one of the model types that is the bread and butter of BSD since May of last year (!), here is a return to the typical 1/500 scale with the USS Lexington CV-16 circa 1945!

I've already designed (and built) the ship as she appeared when reentering service after her extensive refits in 1955, but the only version of her I had in her as-built configuration was so ancient that it was still a 2 stud spine! That design was literally finalized a half decade ago. Crazy to think about.

Anyway, there's a lot more detail as is typical over those older models. I'm happy with it!

Today we've got the RN Roma in 1/1200 scale! I've really started enjoying doing these 1/1200 models; they really scratch the itch of trying to make things as small as possible with as much detail as possible! Roma is no different, I'm very happy with this model. Now that I've standardized at 1/1200 with the MiniFleet models and have even started putting feelers out for collaborations beyond the Battleship Texas Foundation, I am REALLY excited to start expanding the MiniFleet lineup. Instructions and kits for this and other that have been shown and not shown are going to be coming down the line.

As a side note, I have been insanely busy the last few months. My work schedule shifted, and up until now I've had an hour commute each way. I'm finally moving, so I won't be too tired to do more designs and get instructions going anymore! Be on the lookout for an updated website, products, and more big things that we've got in the works!
