Οι λιβελούλες βρίσκονται σε ολόκληρο τον πλανήτη εκτός από την Ανταρκτική. Είναι πολύ χρήσιμες γιατί κρατούν τον πληθυσμό των κουνουπιών χαμηλό καθώς είναι η βασική τροφή τους.
Η ύπαρξη τους συνδέεται με τα υγροτοπικά οικοσυστήματα και γι΄ αυτό η παρουσία τους χρησιμοποιείται σαν βιολογικός δείκτης για την ποιότητα του νερού.
Από παλιά η μεταμόρφωση αυτών των φτερωτών εντόμων, όπως και η μεταμόρφωσή των λεπιδόπτερων, τροφοδότησε την φαντασία των ανθρώπων, δημιουργώντας όμορφες μυθολογικές ιστορίες.
Η καταγραφή των οδοντόγναθων και των υγροτόπων τους, στα μεγαλύτερα και πολυπληθέστερα Ιόνια Νησιά αποτελεί μία σπουδαία προσπάθεια για την προστασία της βιοποικιλότητας στα Επτάνησα.

Damesflies and dragonflies (Odonata), can be found all over the planet except for Antarctica. They are very useful because they keep the mosquito population down since they are their main choice of food.
Their existence is linked to wetland ecosystems and therefore their presence is used as a biological indicator for water quality.
For many years. the metamorphosis of these winged insects, like the metamorphosis of lepidoptera, has been fueling people’s imagination, by creating beautiful mythological stories.
The recording of Damesflies and dragonflies (Odonata) and their wetlands, in the largest and most populous of the Ionian Islands, is an important effort for the protection of biodiversity in the Ionian Islands.

➡️Theresa Nicholas first came to Corfu in 1961. In her art she has recorded Corfiot life as she knew it from the early days, as it used to be lived. Theresa has followed her eye and in consequence has witnessed aspects of life in Corfu that few foreigners have been privileged to see. She started illustrating Corfu scenes soon after she arrived, but much of her work was commercial. “I churned them out for tourists,” she admits. But they gave her a means of survival until 1980, when she started doing more serious work, experimenting with mixed
media compositions, as well as linocuts, woodcuts, monoprints, etchings and oil-paintings. She has exhibited in Corfu, in 1996, 2002 and 2004.

Η βορειοανατολική Κέρκυρα είναι μια από τις ωραιότερες περιοχές του νησιού. Η μορφολογία του τόπου συνδυάζει γραφικούς κόλπους και λιμανάκια με απότομες πλαγιές που καλύπτονται από ελαιώνες και κυπαρίσσια. Η θέα που προσφέρει είναι μοναδική και περιλαμβάνει το βαθύ μπλε της θάλασσας και τα θαμπά βουνά της Αλβανίας. Πέρα από την ομορφιά της, η βορειοανατολική Κέρκυρα είναι ένα μέρος με πλούσια κουλτούρα και ιστορική κληρονομιά. Για το λόγο αυτό η CorfuPress, λειτουργώντας πάντα με γνώμονα την ανάδειξη του νησιού της Κέρκυρας, ανέλαβε την πρωτοβουλία και σε συνεργασία με τους τρεις πολιτιστικούς συλλόγους των πιο σημαντικών χωριών της ακτογραμμής, προχώρησε στην έκδοση ενός οδηγού με τίτλο “NORTHEASTERN CORFU, PARADISE REGAINED”. Στόχος του συγκεκριμένου βιβλίου δεν είναι μόνο να ενημερώσει τους επισκέπτες για την περιοχή, αλλά κυρίως για να τους ωθήσει στην εξερεύνηση του τοπίου και της ιστορίας που καθόρισε την πολιτιστική τους ταυτότητα, τα έθιμα και τις παραδόσεις τους. Πλούσιο φωτογραφικό υλικό, πληροφορίες, ήθη, έθιμα και μύθοι των περιοχών θα σας ταξιδέψουν στη βορειοανατολική Κέρκυρα με έναν πρωτόγνωρο τρόπο!

 

Northeastern Corfu is one of the most beautiful areas in Corfu Island. The morphology of the region combines picturesque bays and ports with steep slopes coated with olive grooves and cypresses. The marine view is one of a kind as well, since it includes the deep blue sea and the gaunt mountains of Albania. Apart from its beauty, Northeastern Corfu is also a place with a rich cultural and historical legacy. This is why CorfuPress collaborated with the three cultural associations of the most important villages in the coastline and took the initiative to publish this guide, not just to inform visitors in general terms about these villages, but most importantly to motivate them to explore the landscapes and the history that defined our cultural identity, our customs and traditions.
