Wanted to share a few snippets from the making process of the Evie espresso cups✨
These were a happy accident resulting from the brainstorming I was doing ahead of a workshop.
I made a number of different shapes but felt drawn to this elegant, tapered form. So I decided to make a few of them. Currently available in two colour forms, but can make more upon request. Check them out on elementclayworks.com or come see them up close in the studio ✨

An extra huge cup I hand built whilst sampling some shapes - it holds 500ml! Haven't decided yet if it's a cup or a small bowl, feels like something in between. Glazed with a unique glaze featuring deep blues and earthy tones, as well as some very juicy drips near the bottom💧✨

Took a break from "the month in the studio" series in April whilst I was away, but we're back for May 😎 ✨
May was very varied in terms of tasks, from mold making, to lots of quality time (not 😅) with my drill screwing and unscrewing things to launching my store on multiple platforms and releasing lots of new designs. Fun!

These are 3 variations of the glaze I've made from industrial waste. Minor changes to the recipe make for dramatically different end results. One I've named "wanderlust", the second one "lichen", and I'm yet to name the third one. Any name ideas for this warm brown?

I made a few different shapes of mugs and cups as samples for a workshop I will be running. Whilst initially I had no interest in mugs, I actually felt captivated when trying to visualise the form, get the proportions right, make it comfortable for every day use.
I wouldn't say I'm there yet, but wanted to share this particular form here that I was very attracted to. I named it Olivia, it holds 200ml and I will be making lots of them to offer in the studio/website ✨

I love this picture of Robin so much that I thought he deserved to be on the grid. Robin is one of the family dogs that I occasionally babysit and I have a real soft spot for this yappy little guy✨ He doesn't visit the studio often because he doesn't understand the concept of allowing strangers in without kicking up a fuss but I occasionally bring him along and that guarantees a) very high employee morale, and b) very low productivity 😅

Drawing inspiration from nature ✨
There's this plant that completely takes over a piece of land next to the studio every Spring. I felt in awe of it's beautiful round leaves and distinct veins and wanted to capture its beauty on a plate. Come join me in making it 🌿✨
