A MESSAGE TO BIMOBA STUDENTS’ UNION
NATIONAL SECRETARIAT
FROM: A CONCERNED SON OF BIMBAGU
Peace I bring to you from Bimbagu Township to the leadership of Bimoba Students’ Union-National Secretariat.
We appreciate your concerns over the recurring incidents in Mouk and its recent developments but would also like to bring to the notice of leadership on some few concerns.
I invite you all to reason with me on a classic legal maxim:
"He who seeks for equity must come with clean hands" meaning anyone who seeks fairness, justice, or relief from a court or authority must have a clear conscience and be free from any wrongdoing or guilt related to the issue at hand.
In other words, if you're asking for fairness or equity, you must be innocent of any fault or misdeed that contributed to the problem. This maxim emphasizes the importance of moral integrity and accountability when seeking justice or relief.
It is often used in legal terms to prevent hypocrisy, promote accountability, and maintain fairness.
This maxim is rooted in the idea that justice should be fair and impartial, and that those seeking relief should demonstrate good faith and a clear conscience.
I’ll like to refer you to a communique issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Bimoba Students Union-National Secretariat on the 1st of March, 2025 titled ‘*TO THE YOUTH OF BIMBAGU* ‘
In the said communique he stated the points listed below;
1. "Youth of Bimbagu, let's unite for peace! Together, we can stop the war and build a brighter future."
2. "Your voice matters! Stand up against the violence in Bimbagu and advocate for peace instead."
3. "Choose dialogue over conflict. Let's work together to end the war in Bimbagu and promote understanding."
4. "To the youth involved in the war: it’s time to stop. Join the movement for peace and heal our community."
5. "The power to change lies in our hands. Let’s take action together to end the war in Bimbagu!"
6. "Peace starts with each of us. Stand up for what’s right – say no to war in Bimbagu!"
7. "Together, we can create a future free from violence. Let's stop the war in Bimbagu now!"
8. "Join us in the fight for peace! Every effort counts in stopping the war in Bimbagu."
Though not an official communique but I presume he spoke on behalf of BISU since he never spoke on other conflicts which has occurred in Mouk in the past until he was elected.
I have to following questions for BISU Leadership
1. What drew your attention that the said conflict was triggered by the youth of Bimbagu?
2. The communique seem to paint one side of the aggressors as trouble causers instead of mediating in the problem
3. What findings did you make to come to the above conclusion on the cause of the aggression?
I will also like to draw the attention of BISU Leadership that, ‘A Bimoba Student who seem to be highly educated enough to preach the effects of conflicts stated ‘The solution of this conflict is to make Bimbagu a ghost town period’ and leadership seem to support it since you(leadership) never came out to speak against it either.
Let me remind leadership that, the Lead member of the other clan of the aggression is a highly recognized and respected person in society, a professional Lawyer and someone who has occupied enviable positions in this country Ghana. Should we still say, this is about illiteracy ?
You may wish to separate education and literacy but you can’t convince me that ‘A lawyer is an illiterate’ maybe let’s leave that for a discussion on another day.
To conclude, Leadership is hereby given a week ultimatum to respond Officially to the above concerns or all Students in Bimbagu will be Marshaled to take a position.
Thank you
Gilbert Nanteeb Lary
BISU Vice President (2018-2021)
