Greetings Detiina supporters and friends. As usual we have been busy behind the scenes working on other alternatives that can help the women in my village generate income whiles I focus on finding a sustainable market for the beautiful jewelry we create. This will make our quest to economically empower rural women more sustainable. As a result, it requires me to travel and build our brand abroad especially North America as this is where our biggest support and market has been from inception. To keep the mission alive, and utilizing the women's skills as subsistent farmers, they unanimously decided that they would take on poultry rearing in addition. We therefore distributed chickens to all the women, through which they will establish their own small poultry businesses. This way as we focus on finding market and clearing all our stock, the women still have a source of income, a true fulfillment of our mission. Thank you all dearly for your support. On behalf all the women of Beads of Hope and Detiina i wish you all a happy new year.

The year 2016 was a bit low key for Beads of Hope as we did so much work behind the scenes.We had our success stories as well as our challenges but we have a lot to be thankful for.

Captured are Kayayo women that Detiina empowers through jewelry making in Accra

Kayayo women are those that mostly travel from the Northern part of the country to the city, Accra, in search of greener pastures. They carry heavy loads for people on top of their head for a small token and mostly sleep on the streets. They are often on the move, go hungry, and are at risk of being r***d. Detiina consciously works with these women to help build their skill set, counsel them and offer temporary housing whenever possible.

We truly hope that one day we can eliminate this trend and build brighter futures for these women.
