Subject: Tragic Fire at African Products Store
It is with profound sadness that I, Razak Azumah, Founder and Chairman of African Products Store, share news of an unforeseen tragedy that has deeply impacted our business and the wider community at the Accra Arts Centre.
A devastating fire, triggered by a gas cylinder explosion, tore through our Business Park and completely destroyed over 50 artisan structures, including our own shop. In an instant, everything we had built since our founding in 2017 — our tools, machines, handmade goods, and workspace — was reduced to ashes.
We had a committed team of five employees, and as a trained seamstress with over 12 years of experience, I put my heart into every piece we created. This fire has not only affected our livelihood, but it has also shattered a space that was full of creativity, culture, and community.
Unfortunately, like many small businesses in Ghana, we did not have insurance to protect us against such loss. Despite this, we remain committed to rebuilding and returning stronger — with even more purpose and pride.
