Wango NewsLine! National Service person steals GHc308,300 through unauthorized MoMo transfers

A National Service personnel attached to the DVLA, Ebenezer Ghartey, has been accused of stealing GH¢308,300 through unauthorized mobile money transfers.

Prosecutors allege that he transferred the money from a DVLA officer's MTN merchant account to his own mobile money account between March and May 2026.

According to the police, he utilized the funds to purchase a Hyundai Elantra, a 50-inch Samsung TV, furniture, an air conditioner, a washing machine, and other household items, in addition to settling his rent and a sibling's school fees.

Ghartey has pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the amount of GH¢100,000, with the case adjourned to August 4, 2026. More soon.
