Fulford Community Orchard

Fulford Community Orchard Fulford Community Orchard is the last corner of the orchard belonging to the Hospital which stood on the site of what is now the Designer Outlet Centre.

There are some sixty trees, most of which date from the 1930s but some of which have been planted recently to replace earlier losses. The trees are heritage breeds of pear, apple and plum. The site, about two acres in size, is now a wildlife habitat. Its maintainance and upkeep are now provided by the Friends of Fulford Community Orchard, a charity.

A few pics from Fulford Community Orchard this morning. The meadow area has wonderful mass flowering of red campion, buttercups, cow parsley and yellow rattle. Despite being next to the designer outlet it is a restful place. If you are interested in getting involved in the management of the orchard. Send me a message.

And a visitor whilst I was having a break. No idea what it is. Some kind of beetle or weevil?
