Lucky enough to be given a well rooted cutting of Epipremnum pinnatum variegata by the owner of Baan Rim Moon cafe in Ubon Ratchathani. Thank you very much Khun Kung. I carefully packed it for the flight back to Bangkok and it’s now growing happily in my garden.

My Musa sikkimensis “Red Tiger” showing how it got the name. It took a while for it to develop such deep red colour (and the warm weather helped).

Temperature in the garden at way over 30 C at 16:30 this afternoon. I’m going to experiment with a spare Bougainvillea and see how it survives in this position - Rhododendrons and Roses are wilting alarmingly but the Bougainvilleas are thriving. 🌸🌸🌸

Bougainvillea in full flower at the moment. I have a couple of Bougainvillea plants. They don’t do well over winter, dropping a lot of leaves, but never fail to perk up and give a great display over the summer months. They are quite difficult to root too and only about 30% ‘take’ in my experience. I’m on the lookout for some different colours at a reasonable price. Also willing to swap if anyone would like a cutting of this lighter purple/pink one, it’s called Bougainvillea’Vera’.

A tale of four Tradescantias. I took some cuttings this morning and realised I had a full set of these plants. On the right are T. pallida, next is its purple form T. pallida cv. “Purpurea”. The green ones are actually quite rare in cultivation, most people prefer the purple form. The white fluffy ones are T. sillamontana and finally a hybrid between pallida “Purpurea” and T. sillamontana called “Pale Puma”. PM me for details if you’re interested in buying any of these varieties.

Aroids in the garden. My recently purchased Arum italicum ‘Pictum’ has produced a huge spathe, much bigger than the native UK species and lovely patterned foliage. I got it from Stillingfleet Lodge Gardens near York.

The limestone walls of Easby Abbey near Richmond in North Yorkshire have some lovely ferns growing on them. There were others higher up of a different species. Climbing gear would have been needed to see them properly.
