Right… I need your help! πŸ§ΆπŸ‚

I've finally reached the point in my Pumpkin Spice CAL where I need to make the centrepiece.

And here's the thing… the pattern says **pumpkin**. πŸŽƒ

Now, there's absolutely nothing wrong with the pumpkin (and I've included the pattern and the actual pumpkin instructions in the photos so you can see what I'm supposed to be making!)…

…but I'm tempted to go a little rogue. πŸ˜‚

I've been playing around with a few alternative ideas and I've narrowed it down to FIVE possibilities:

πŸŽƒ **Pumpkin** – stick with the pattern
🌻 **Sunflower** – because I do love a sunflower!
πŸ¦” **Hedgehog** – cute, autumnal and a little bit different
πŸ„ **Mushroom** – another autumn favourite
πŸ‚ **Autumn gnome** – because why not?!

So I'm handing this one over to you…

What would YOU put in the centre?

Pop your vote in the comments:
πŸŽƒ Pumpkin
🌻 Sunflower
πŸ¦” Hedgehog
πŸ„ Mushroom
πŸ‚ Gnome

I'm going to let the GCC jury decide and make whichever one gets the most votes!

And yes… if you choose the pumpkin, I promise I won't hold it against you. πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚

Are you a β€œfollow the pattern” person, or would you go rogue too?

🌿 Sunday Stitching Thoughts 🌿

Sometimes being behind doesn't actually matter.

I've been feeling a little behind lately. Behind on crochet-alongs, behind on projects, and behind on sharing things here.

But yesterday reminded me that being behind doesn't mean you have to sit everything else out.

I entered three of my makes to a local village show β€” my crochet ammonite, quilted ammonite wall hanging and a jar of chutney β€” because I wanted to take part and, more importantly, support a village show.

And then I discovered that I was the only entrant in all three of those categories! πŸ˜‚

So yes… I came home with three prize labels! πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†

I'm under no illusion that I fought off stiff competition for them, but honestly, that's not what entering was about for me.

It was about taking part. About supporting something local. About putting a few things I've made out there for other people to see. And about enjoying the slightly old-fashioned loveliness of a village show.

And perhaps that's my stitching thought for today too. We don't always have to be ahead. We don't have to be finished. And we don't have to be the best.

Sometimes it's enough simply to join in.

So I'm still behind on my Pumpkin Spice CAL. There are still projects waiting patiently for me. And GCC has been a little quieter lately.

But I'm here. I'm making. I'm taking part.

And apparently, occasionally, I'm winning things by default. πŸ˜‚πŸ†

Have you ever entered a village show, craft fair or local competition? Did you enter to win… or just to take part?

It's Granny Square Day!! Hooray πŸ₯³

The granny square is such a versatile crochet pattern. Often the first to be made by new crocheters and with a huge variety of designs and even shapes, coming in triangles and hexagons!

Here a little showcase of some of the Granny items I've previously (and currently) made. Hope you enjoy πŸ˜„

Pumpkin Spice Update - Week 5!! πŸŽƒπŸπŸƒ

Oh my goodness! How is it Week 5 already?

I have not kept up with this CAL. I've only just started the stitches for Week 3 πŸ€ͺ🀭 but one thing I've learned with a CAL is it's the taking part, crocheting along with others and sharing the good, the bad and the ugly! It's not always about keeping up it's about enjoying the pattern and stitches, sharing tips, celebrating with others and supporting others.

So, whilst I a bit behind I am still making progress and really enjoying seeing the colours together 🧑

It's been rather a while since I posted and I am sorry for that. Just after my last post I sadly had to say goodbye to Fudgey pig which was a shock and very very sad πŸ˜₯. Then there were some trips away so I hope you understand why it's been quiet here. πŸ™

There's been only a littlw bit of crafting , a few pieces of mending and I'm still working on my Pumpkin Spice blanket (more about that soon).

This evening I went out locally with my family to watch the Solar Eclipse , wow, πŸ˜™what a spectacular moment πŸŒ‘πŸŒ— - it may have given me some inspiration for something...

Anyway I promise there will be projects, fabrics , your chance to vote and other exciting things happening in the near future....

Thanks for sticking around here, i really appreciate you all πŸ™πŸ˜Š

I’ve got that β€œwhat should I make next?” feeling again… πŸ‘€

I’ve been enjoying some quicker projects lately, but I’m open to ideas!

If you had to choose, what would you go for:

🧡 Something practical
🌸 Something decorative
🎁 Something to gift

Or something completely different?

🌿 Sunday Stitching Thoughts 🌿

Some weeks the sewing machine is almost non stop and the crochet hook is racing through yarn.

Other weeks, life has other plans.

This week has been one of those 'lifes other plans' weeks, with very little making as I've been spending my time caring for one of our poorly guinea pigs. πŸ’š

There have still been a few stitches here and there, but for now my focus is on my Fudgey pig. (Video is of him in the garden the other week having just enjoyed a strawberry πŸ“ 😍)

Wishing you all a peaceful Sunday evening, and I hope you've found a little time for something that brings you joy, whether that's crafting or slowing down or spending time with your family and pets πŸŒΏπŸ’š 🐾

I've had these beautiful silks tucked away in my fabric stash for years...

Every now and then I take them out, admire the colours , shine and embroidery and promise myself I'll make something special.

Lately I've been wondering whether they'd make a gorgeous pair of floaty summer trousers or maybe some shorts... but I'm still undecided.

So I'm curious... if these were in your stash, what would you make? πŸ’œβœ¨

πŸŽƒπŸ§Ά Pumpkin Spice CAL – Week 2

I've now completed Week 1, and I have to say I've really enjoyed it!

Not only have I made my first four granny triangles and the ssed stitch centre panel, but I've also learnt a new way of blocking my crochet to help a piece keep its shape and size. I love picking up little tips and techniques along the way.

It's also been the perfect excuse to use the beautiful crochet hooks I received for my 50th birthday. They certainly make every stitch feel a little bit more special. 🧑

Now I'm looking forward to seeing what Week 2 has in store... although I have to admit I'm already wondering whether I might go a little rogue with the centrepiece! πŸ€”πŸ˜„

That's one of the things I love about crafting – following a pattern is great, but adding your own little twist can make a project truly your own.

Are you someone who follows a pattern exactly, or do you enjoy adding your own creative touch?

🌿 Sunday Stitching Thoughts 🌿

This weekend I travelled by train to visit my best friend, and of course my Pumpkin Spice Crochet Along came along for the journey.

Something lovely happened on both train rides.

A fellow passenger struck up a conversation after noticing my crochet. One told me how amazing he thought it was and I displayed real skill, and another said she'd love to learn herself (she later clarified she *wanted* to learn, not that she felt she *should!* 😊).

It got me thinking...

To many of us who sew, quilt, knit or crochet, picking up our latest project is just part of everyday life. We don't always think twice about it.

But to someone looking on, those same stitches can seem like a real skill and something they may never be able to do.

Sometimes we become so familiar with what we can do that we forget how far we've come. Every blanket, quilt, bag or little project started with learning and practice.

So if you've ever thought your craft was "nothing special", perhaps remember that someone else might be looking at it with complete admiration.

Have you ever had a stranger stop to chat about something you've been making? I'd love to hear your story. πŸ’š

Wishing you all a happy, stitch-filled Sunday.
