File, mark the lip, file again.

Quiet day in the workshop to close out the week, using all hand tools to prep these chinrests for sanding. Namely Luke is using a Shinto rasp and then softer files. It's nice to have a break from the racket of the power tools.

Pre-orders went live last week and we're already working our way through the first batch! Lead time is currently 4-6 weeks but we have a feeling that'll go up, so get in soon.

Now we're off to enjoy the sunshine this weekend.

Closing out the week scraping tailpieces

Every single AA product passes through one set of hands - cut, shaped, scraped, sanded and finished by Luke.

Each tailpiece undergoes four hours of hand crafting to take it from log, to rough cut, to finished product, and finally, to your instrument.

Tailpiece pre-orders are now live!

But for those of you in urgent need, all these examples are available on the shop, ready to ship.

As for the pre-orders, both French and English styles are available in Boxwood, Rosewood and Ebony between 100mm-120mm in length. You can configure your tailpiece exactly to your liking, down to the fret.

Same goes for the chinrest pre-orders, there's a variety of models, materials, and fittings available on our store. Just head to the pre-orders section.

Pre-Orders are live now!

You beautiful people sell the shop out faster than we can put listings up, so we've listened to your feedback and set up an option to pre-order chinrests if they're unavailable on the store.

For the moment it's a selection of favourites, Guarnerius', Tekas. etc - The Classics. But we'll be adding the lesser known models over the next few weeks so keep an eye out. I've popped the link to the pre-order page in our bio.

Give you three guesses what's wrong with this picture.

We were commissioned to replicate a chinrest, which was going well until fresh eyes realised we'd made a mirror copy. To err is human, and other phrases to that effect.

After a little self flagellation and words I won't repeat here, we copied the chinrest CORRECTLY for our client and have sent it on its way.

In unrelated news, we now have a lovely left hand Surfboard available on the shop!
