After a lovely holiday, I’m back in the workshop and out tuning again – and it’s been a great start!

Here’s a look at some recent pianos I’ve worked on:

A Chappell upright with recent action work, including recentered flanges and new key bushings – now playing smoothly and evenly.

A bright Yamaha U1 that needed voicing in the top treble for a more balanced tone.

A beautiful 100+ year-old Steinmayer, still full of character and charm.

And a reliable little Bentley upright in for its regular yearly tune.

Here's a great example of a piano with a story. After decades in the family I managed to get this well-loved piano back up to concert pitch.

Some damage to the casework from a few years ago and worn out hammers calls for some minor repair work which will be carried out and will have this wonderful instrument back to working at its best.

Todays job is finishing off the final bits of preparation on our restored C. Bechstein ahead of the second sold out concert by Chris Miggells at Sherwood Observatory.

Wrapping up another full and rewarding week! Most of my time was spent in the workshop — can’t wait to share more about what’s been going on behind the scenes soon. 🎹✨

To close out the week, I had the pleasure of working on a beautiful Collard & Collard upright from the 1910s, giving it the pitch and fine tuning it deserved to bring it back to life.

Then, I prepared two Kawai pianos — a baby grand and an upright — for a student recital hosted by a local piano teacher. It’s always a joy to support young musicians as they share their hard work and talent with family and friends.
