After 21 years and many thousands of bouquets later, here’s what I wish every bride knew.
The condition your flowers arrive in makes all the difference to the final result. And the good news is — keeping them in great condition is simple, as long as you know what to do.
SAVE these tips and SHARE them with a bride-to-be who needs to know.
1) AVOID PLACING YOUR BOUQUET ON ITS SIDE during your wedding day as this will bruise and damage your flowers. Keep a vase on standby filled with a little water to pop your bouquet into when you are not using it.
2) It may seem obvious but If you are having a handtied bouquet, DON’T THROW YOUR BOUQUET otherwise the flowers will get damaged in the scrum.
3) Once the wedding is over, cut 2cms off your flower stems using sharp scissors and put your FLOWERS IN WATER so that they stay hydrated. This is very important especially on a hot, sunny day.
4) Keep your flowers somewhere COOL AND DRY room with air conditioning, an outside covered porch or a garage would be ideal. A dark room would be even better. Please don’t store your flowers in a car. They will cook on a warm day!
5) You may put your flowers in a fridge but only if the fridge is big enough to accommodate your flowers and foliage without any of them touching the walls of the fridge otherwise your flowers will be damaged. The temperature of the fridge must not be below 5 degree Celsius.
6) DO NOT put your flowers in a conventional freezer as you will damage them permanently. Our freeze driers are not the same as household freezers and your flowers will be permanently damaged if you do this.
