🐝 As we approach midsummer, there’s lots more flowers, fragrance and fresh foliage in the Nursery this week.
🌸 Jasmine Stephanense and the evergreen star jasmine, Trachelospermum Jasminoides, are covered in masses of highly fragrant pink and white flowers - both excellent for covering pergolas and fences.
🌸The fabulously luminous magenta flowers of Lychnis (Silene) Atrosanguinea are standing out in the display areas and are the perfect addition to dry, sunny spots - contrasting with the vibrant evergreen foliage on the Aucuba Japonicas, ideal for brightening up shady areas.
🌸The Salvias including Peach Melba, Amistad and Little Kiss, along with lots more cottage garden plants are now in full flower and buzzing with bees.

🌺 We have been loving the colours in our polytunnel this week 🌺
If you’re looking to fill a few more pots of your own, or have an empty hanging basket hook that needs a pop of colour, call in and take a look at our filled baskets, and summer flowering bedding and baskets plants - all grown and planted in the Nursery, and ready to bring long lasting colour throughout summer.

🐝 Flowers, fragrance and foliage in abundance in the Nursery this week.

There’s: Philadelphus Belle Etoile, covered in masses of sweet orange-blossom fragrant white flowers with a central maroon blotch;
The fabulously intense coloured flowers of Cosmos Chocomocha and “new to the Nursery” Cosmos Cherry Chocolate both valued for their own unique vanilla-chocolate scent;
For vibrant foliage Acer Orange Dream is perfect for pots or garden borders to brighten up shadier spots;
And there’s lots of the cottage garden herbaceous plants full of flower and ready for planting, including Geum Scarlet Tempest.

As we look forward to the forecast heatwave and much warmer temperatures in the week ahead, we’ve been thinking about the drought tolerant plants that will add some instant colour to the garden, and continue to thrive throughout the summer. The Geums - Koi, Lady Stratheden and Mrs Bradshaw are great value, hardy perennial plants and are looking good now, and will continue to flower throughout the summer months☀️🐝
