▪️What an absolute legend & devastating loss for Wigan! Condolences to all his family & friends 😞

▪️’Sir Billy Boston was a true legend of rugby league and one of the greatest players ever to grace the game. A Wigan Warriors icon, he scored an incredible 478 tries in 488 appearances for the club and represented Great Britain with distinction, helping them win the 1960 World Cup. Beyond his remarkable achievements on the field, Billy was a trailblazer who broke down barriers and inspired generations of players. His knighthood in 2025, as the first rugby league player to receive the honour, was a fitting recognition of an extraordinary life and career. He will be remembered with enormous affection and respect, and his legacy will live on in rugby league forever’

▪️Something a little different today…

▪️My uncle & aunty give up a lot of their time helping out at St Paul’s Church, and one of the lovely ladies who also attends St Paul’s runs a sight loss group in Hindley once a month.

▪️I popped in to see my uncle Cliff, and he mentioned the group had been talking about Baldy’s Pies at their last meeting. Long story short, Cliff asked if I’d be interested in popping along to have a chat about what I do, how Baldy’s started and the journey I’ve been on so far.

▪️I’d never actually done anything like this before, so I was more than happy to get involved.

▪️Fast forward to 11am this morning and I got to meet all 15 members of the group. I heard some really interesting stories about people’s experiences with sight loss, and I genuinely found it really educational and inspiring.

▪️I also got the chance to talk about my own journey, the background behind Baldy’s and how it’s gone from an idea to this whirlwind of a pie business!

▪️And of course… I couldn’t turn up empty handed! I treated all 15 to some Big Jim’s & I’m pleased to say it went down an absolute storm!

▪️Such a lovely bunch of people, and I’m genuinely glad I went along. It was a really enjoyable morning and something a little different for me.

🔽SIP – WIGAN🔽

▪️ Decided to treat the wife to a little date-morning breakfast while she was out later for one of our friend’s baby showers.

▪️ SIP has only been open for a week, and it’s owned by Adam, who also owns The Post House in Orrell. I’ve known Adam for a good few years now & he’s genuinely one of the nicest lads you could meet. He puts his heart and soul into everything he does, and SIP is another perfect example of that.

▪️ It’s a proper classy venue, beautifully refurbished, with both indoor and outdoor seating. Really smart setup.

▪️ They’ve only just started doing breakfast, but honestly, it was spot on. The staff were lovely and kept checking back to make sure everything was alright without being overbearing.

▪️ And the coffee… fu***ng ridiculous! Absolutely unreal.

▪️ The breakfasts were bang on the money, quality sausage and bacon, beautiful bright orange egg yolks and delicious black pudding. You can tell they’re using great ingredients.

▪️ £35 well spent (Small English £9 / Large £12.50), and I left the staff a £10 tip because they genuinely deserved it.

▪️ One little heads up though… we were one of the first in at 10am, and by the time we’d finished, the place was FULL. Clearly we’re not the only ones who’ve discovered it!

▪️Definitely worth a visit if you’re around Wigan.

🔽BALDY’S UPDATE🔽

▪️Right guys, a little update on what’s happening at Baldy’s over the next few weeks!

▪️The pie collaborations have now come to an end & it’s honestly been a pleasure having some of these amazing company’s up at the shop while I’ve been recovering.

▪️A massive thank you to everyone who got involved, you really helped me out!

▪️I’m now less than 5 weeks post-op, but I’ll be making a small return next week with some of my own beautiful pies available for you to purchase.

▪️The shop will then close from Friday 4th September for two weeks, reopening the week commencing 21st September.

🔽WHAT’S CHANGING🔽

▪️The shop is getting a little mini makeover, and when we reopen, we’ll have a few more delights on offer!

▪️The new display fridge will be home to our Tiger Barm Buttys & best of all, Wigan Kebab Fridays will be coming to Baldy’s! These will be MEGA!

▪️I’ll be working with some other independent businesses too so I can stock some other amazing treats so keep an eye on the page for updates.

▪️I’ll also be back up at the farm every Friday Pie-Day going forward. I’ve had some time away the past 12 months, after opening the container shop & then winning SUPREME CHAMPION, things got a little crazy & I’ve been stuck in the pie prison baking away until all hours!

▪️Opening times will change slightly too, but I’ll update you all a little closer to reopening.

▪️The pie menu will be slightly reduced for the time being as I’ll be cutting my kitchen hours down until my knee is back to 100%.

▪️While I’m on this health kick, recovering from surgery & having decided to go t-total i may also incorporate a few healthy meal options too!

▪️Lots happening, lots to look forward to & I can’t wait to get back amongst it!

▶️BIG NEWS DROPPING IN OCTOBER◀️

▪️Hopefully around the middle of October I’ll be able to drop some news about this TV series! It’s also being aired in November but I should have specific dates soon.

▪️I’ll be filming for another channel 4 show in October as well so watch this space!

▪️I’ve also got three more finals approaching, hospitality business of the year & small retailer of the year at the WIGAN BUSINESS AWARDS & best bakery at the THE UK SMALL BUSINESS AWARDS! Wish me luck!

▪️Im no content creator but i am going to work on getting some more content made for you guys, its not easy when your flat out all the time but ill do my best.

🔽DIVINO🔽

▪️Popped into Divino for a quick lunch this afternoon with my beautiful wife ❤️

▪️Arancini & crayfish to start, followed by spaghetti & meatballs & arrabbiata & spicy salami 🤤

▪️Cracking lunch, starters were tasty & seasoned on point, pasta was al dente, the tomato sauce was so moorish, could have mopped it up with a loaf of bread! The meatballs were sooo soft as well! 🙏

▪️Really enjoyed it & the staff were lovely. Very reasonably priced too. Thanks for cooking for us Vinny 👊
