Meant to post this ages ago but got distracted with my Hen-Do!
This was a challenge of sorts. The bride wanted the zip and faux button fastening taken off the back and replaced with a corset.
I removed the original fastening and then created the loops for the corset before sewing them into the space from the zip. Then I made the panel and corset tape and closed all seams back up for as neat a finish as possible.

Another excuse to show off my cotton velvet evening gown last night at a work event
I also managed to get interest in making a Mother of the Groom outfit from a colleague
I always feel amazing when wearing this dress

This was such a heartwarming message to received from my bride a few weeks ago. She was so stressed and worried about the fit of her dress at the start of the week when I collected it. I was worried that with the time available there wasn’t much I would be able to do for her, but getting this message after delivering the dress back to her at the end of the week made me so happy

As promised, here is the progress of the alterations to this gorgeous wedding dress from a few weeks ago. This included changing the shape and design of the back of the bodice, as well as tapering on the side seams. I also had to tidy up the seams that had been added to the top of the shoulder straps.
My favourite change ti this dress was undeniably the bustle on the skirt.
This shows the beautiful detail on the train and still allows the bride to move and dance with ease during the evening

I took on this alteration for a bride last week. She had taken her dress to another seamstress who, long story short, did not do the work asked and needed for the bride.
The bride came to me a week before she was due to travel to Northern Ireland for her wedding and asked if there was anything I could do.
I was reluctant to promise anything with the timescale but wanted to do what I could for the bride. After all, this is the biggest day of her life!
You can see in the pictures the fit of the dress after the bride had gotten it back from the other seamstress. She had also asked for a hustle, to which the seamstress replied, ‘you don’t need a bustle, you can just use the wrist hoop on the underskirt’

Progression photos to follow in another post…

I was gifted this vintage lace from a colleague, whose mum had bought it for her wedding dress years ago
Being a lover of vintage already, and wanting to make sure I am using it for its originally intended purpose, I have decided to save this for my own wedding dress

Bit of a labour of love with this one. I undertook taking up the hem on this lime green jumpsuit last minute.
Due to not having this colour thread, I decided it would look better to do this by hand.
I used a stretchable thread for this scuba fabric so the hem wasn’t effected and it lay as flat as possible

This was an alteration for a mens summer jacket
It involved small adjustments on all the seams to create some shape to the waist
I unpicked the half lining to get to the front and side seams and then hands tucked it back together

Saturday night was a wonderful night for three reasons…
One, I got to spend a lovely evening with my parents and my future family.
Two, I got to get dressed up and feel like a Princess for the night 👑
Three, it was the perfect opportunity to show off my skills as a designer and seamstress, with both mine and my mothers dresses.

My dress was made from scratch from navy cotton velvet and my mothers dress was a dress bought especially for the occasion and altered by myself to fit her perfectly!

It was just luck that we matched our colour scheme 💙
