Closer Pets

Closer Pets Helping owners care for pets with innovative pet feeders, drinking fountains and doors.

We’ve been proudly bringing pets and owners together for over three decades, under the Cat Mate, Dog Mate and Fish Mate brands. In 2021, we decided to take everything these brands stand for and bring them together under a fresh new name: Closer Pets. Our new name perfectly reflects our aim to offer a more personal experience and our commitment to becoming more digital and connected as a company –

while supporting the longstanding trust the business has built over the 30 years. From automatic feeders to microchip cat flaps and doggy doors, our smart pet products will help you care for your companions throughout the day. They will also help ease your mind if you’re heading back to the office after working from home for an extended period (2020 – need we say more?). We’ve got big plans, and we can’t wait to take you and your pets along for the ride!

If your cat suddenly seems fussier about drinking water in summer, you’re not imagining it.

Cats naturally prefer fresh, moving water, especially in warmer weather.

See here for a few simple ways to help improve your cat’s daily hydration. Or for more helpful tips, visit our hydration blog post, found under the ‘About Us’ section of our website.

It’s National Hug Your Cat Day, and this your reminder to celebrate your feline friend today! 🐱

It’s no secret, every cat has their own opinion on hugs. Some will happily curl up in your lap for hours, while others prefer their personal space.

Whether your cat enjoys close cuddles, air hugs, slow blinks, or simply supervising you from across the room, today is all about appreciating them.

Tag us in your cat's cutest cuddly (or not-so-cuddly) moments.

We’re proud to share that Closer Pets has been recognised in The Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2026, for the second year running.

The recognition highlights our people-first culture, flexible approach to working, commitment to wellbeing, and yes… our pet-friendly workplace too!

We’ve always believed that when people are trusted, supported and given the flexibility to thrive, great work follows. Seeing that reflected in a 95% colleague engagement score and 97% of colleagues saying they’re proud to work at Closer Pets makes this achievement even more meaningful.

A huge thank you to our team for helping shape the culture we’re proud to be recognised for every day.

As life moves outdoors this Spring, give your cat the freedom to roam by upgrading your home’s pet access.

Using RFID technology, options like the Cat Mate Elite Microchip Cat Flap read your cat’s unique microchip, providing easy, stress-free access while keeping unwanted cats and wildlife out.

Take the hassle out of pet access and let your cat enjoy more time exploring the outdoors.

Is your dog feeling anxious? 🐾

Shaking, panting or restlessness can all be signs of anxiety. Support them with simple comforts such as chew toys and lick mats to help them feel calm and relaxed.

For dogs who struggle when left alone, solutions like the TreatView Pet Camera let you check in, speak to your pet, and offer reassurance, wherever you are.

For more tips on how to support your dog this Dog Anxiety Awareness Week, see our blog. Find it under the 'About Us' section on our website.

Today marks Adopt a Shelter Pet Day, a moment to recognise the many animals waiting for a second chance in a loving and caring home.

Through organisations like Dogs Trust, the RSPCA, Cats Protection, Blue Cross and countless local shelters, thousands of pets are given hope every day.

Today we celebrate the pets who have found their forever homes and those still waiting to be discovered.

To find out more about how you can support a shelter pet, get in touch with your local charity.

With spring in full swing, our gardens are coming back to life and garden ponds are no exception.

As we prepare for the warmer months ahead, now is the perfect time to refresh your pond and make sure everything is running smoothly, because a well-maintained pond creates the best environment for fish to flourish throughout spring and summer.

Take a closer look at our range of pond pumps, filters and feeders to help keep your pond and fish healthy all season long. Link in comments.
