In the last hour a local business has decided to dump their catering waste on our bins. Gastro trays and all. This is a new one on us. We are used to our bins being filled with other people’s rubbish and having to tidy up around them, but when a local business thinks it’s ok to put on a not for profit community organisation, that kinda takes the p.

Bins are charged by weight.

We have CCTV so we will be checking it.

It would be lovely if you came and got your burgers please!

Also you might like to know that there are a number of food projects in the town and apps that you can send your surplus to!

Sneak peak before the weekend. We have still got a few bits to finish off, but we should be all good for Monday at 9am.

Initially we will open Monday to Friday as a cafe, and from September, we will be opening as a cheese and wine bar in the evenings 🧀🧀🧀🍷🍷🍷

A little sneak peek from today’s kitchen testing. 👀

We’re busy trying out some ideas for the new café menu, and this one went down rather well!

Goats’ cheese, beetroot, orange and quinoa salad, served with two mini brioche rolls – one filled with ham hock, honey & mustard, and the other with chicken mayonnaise.

And to finish… salted caramel and comb brownie. 🍫

We’re still tasting, tweaking and making sure everything is just right before the new menu launches, but we’d love to know what you think. Is this something you’d order?

You will be able to eat in or take away and buy this as a set lunch menu or individual items.

Today is the final day for Rowan Tree Tea Room at The Stable, and we’re genuinely very sad to see David go.

We were so pleased to be able to welcome him here when he had to leave the Old Town Quarry, and it has been lovely having him as part of The Stable.

Please do pop in today for a final coffee, cake or chat and help us give him a warm send-off. We wish him the very best of luck for whatever comes next.

The café will then close for a short break before reopening on 3 August with coffee, cake, salads and sarnies to eat in or take away. It will reopen quietly at first, with a full relaunch planned for September.

This is today’s dog mess on Old Post Office Lane. It’s honestly disgusting, the whole lane stinks.

This is a space people come to enjoy. The street art brings visitors into the town, and this is what they’re greeted with.

We’re now looking at moving our CCTV to cover this area. As a not-for-profit on a shoestring budget, that’s not something we can easily afford, but we’re left with little choice.

It shouldn’t come to this. Clean up after your dog. It’s basic respect.

The sooner we can identify and take action against whoever is responsible, the better.
