Tomorrow's market (Wednesday) will be open as normal, however, several of our traders have taken the personal decision not to trade due to the heat and as such, it may appear lighter than normal.

If you are planning to attend (and we hope that you do!), please note that there is a free water fountain outside of the Town Hall to refill water bottles, and the Town Hall reception is available should you need a cool place to rest.

Whilst you are with us, why not visit the High Street, Queen Street and Broad Street to show your support, especially as some businesses here have been hit overnight with flooding and we know they would welcome seeing some friendly faces!

Here’s a few early morning pictures from the first Sunday pilot market in Wells today.

A very big thank you to the first 30 new traders joining us,who bought a mix of lovely, products and colourful displays to merge with a selection of our regular stalls to create a very eclectic and hopefully interesting mix .

We had a lovely day with so much support and interest from so many visitors making this a very positive first Sunday market.

For our next Sunday in Wells we will introduce more new traders who are waiting to join to enhance the market further.

As The first Wells Sunday pilot market approaches this weekend, the weather forecast is for a beautiful warm and sunny day .

We have a very different looking market with lots of new local producers and Artisan makers from Somerset and further afield …flowers grown locally .. local cakes and bakes, local cheeses and ciders and even new Tibetan hot food , new burgers and a fantastic ice cream van to make this a very engaging and happy place to visit .

Please come and browse amongst the stalls .. sit and enjoy the cafes .. the views around Wells and enjoy the lovely atmosphere the Wells market place provides in the sun ! ☀️ 😊

It’s 8.30 am the sun is out(at the moment)! With just a gentle breeze.
Wells market is here brimming with fresh produce and artisan stalls.

Here is some more information regarding the new Sunday market pilot .

At Wells city council we are launching our new market as a pilot to bring together a large selection of completely new traders into Wells showcasing different and interesting products and creations!
We will also have a selection of our established and popular traders to create an interesting and vibrant mix that will change each month as we rotate our offerings.

At Wells we have the most beautiful setting to stage our pilot events surrounded by historically beautiful buildings , cafes and restaurants with tables and chairs everywhere to sit and relax .. not to mention our hot food sellers providing a range of very different meals to try we are working to create a lovely and unique happy environment for everyone to enjoy .

We will have a browsing period from 9.30 with the market open between 10.00am and 3.00pm

The 14th of June is our launch, we really hope you can join us all in Wells . 😊
