Over the last few months Iβve spent a lot of time reflecting on where D6 Den is heading, what works well, what doesnβt, and most importantly how we make sure this space can continue long term in a healthy and sustainable way.
This is probably one of the hardest posts Iβve had to write, because D6 has always been more than just a business to me. It has been a passion, a project, a community space, and something Iβve poured a huge amount of time and energy into over the last few years.
Unfortunately, the reality is that things need to change.
Over the next few weeks we will begin gradually phasing in a number of changes to how D6 Den operates, with the aim of moving towards a smaller and more sustainable setup. This will likely include downsizing, moving location, and significantly reducing operating hours. Personally, I will also be stepping back from working almost non stop to a much more manageable schedule.
A huge part of this decision is about rebuilding a healthier work-life and family balance. Over the last 8 months especially, the stress of trying to manage too many moving parts at once has become overwhelming, and I reached a point where I was very close to shutting the doors entirely.
This is not something I ever wanted to do, but after a lot of reflection I know itβs the right decision both for myself and for the long-term future of D6 Den.
Instead of allowing the space to disappear completely, weβre choosing to reset, and build a more sustainable version of D6 Den moving forward.
The good news is that the heart of D6 Den is not disappearing. We will still have:
π² The gaming space
π The shop
π The kitchen & food offering
β€οΈ The community that makes this place special
However, with the computer side of the business no longer supporting the gaming side financially, we unfortunately can no longer continue operating the space in its current form without introducing a more structured contribution model similar to many other gaming venues.
From next month we will be introducing:
π PAYG Entry β Β£5 per person for gaming or Β£3 per person for building and painting / general hobby time.
This will grant access to the gaming or hobby table for the day. Wristbands will be issued through the shop.
We will also be introducing monthly memberships:
πΉ Standard β Β£20/month
Unlimited access to the gaming & hobby space whenever tables are available.
πΉ Deluxe β Β£26/month
Unlimited gaming & hobby space access plus enhanced Games Workshop discounts:
β’ up to 22.5% off standard GW products
β’ up to 15% off online exclusive GW products
πΉ Premier β Β£32/month
Everything included in Deluxe plus:
β’ 10% off food & drink
For customers without a membership, our standard Games Workshop discounts will be changing to:
β’up to 20% off standard GW trade items
β’up to 10% off GW online exclusives
The CIC side of D6 will continue to operate, and we absolutely still want this space to remain welcoming and accessible. If anyone is genuinely struggling financially but still wants to access the community space, please come and speak to us privately and we will always try to help where we realistically can.
This is not the end of D6 Den.
This is simply the start of a new chapter, one focused on sustainability, community, balance, and making sure the space can continue long into the future rather than burning out completely.
To everyone who has supported us so far: thank you. Genuinely. Whether youβve bought products, attended events, grabbed food, donated, or simply spent time in the space, youβve helped build something really special.
Now itβs time to reshape it into something healthier and sustainable for the future β€οΈ
