๐ข The South Mainland Community Association (SMCA) is looking for more support. We are a small association who own and run the Boddam Sportsfield and Pavilion, and organise monthly South Mainland Senior Citizens' events through the summer and autumn months.
We have a strong committee, but some members are looking to retire so we're looking for more support in the following areas (people of any age or background would be most welcome!) :
๐ Volunteers to help on the night at senior citizensโ evenings - fine, lightsome gatherings, once a month, around 2-3 hours on a weekday evening, at the Bigton Hall. Jobs include helping serve tea and sandwiches, general clearing up, putting tables and chairs away etc. (some or all duties, if you have a specialty or limitation!) - this can be on an "as available" basis if some volunteers aren't available for every event.
๐ Committee members to help organise senior citizens' evenings - includes organising transport, booking hall and organising entertainment for monthly evenings; and organising a group lunch/dinner outing. These have been running for a number of years and the current organiser is happy to offer guidance and support to get started (meetings monthly initially to get established, then may move to every 2-3 months. This could be a role for one person, or could be split between more than one)
๐ Treasurer to manage the senior citizens' funds - includes applying for grant funding and paying bills. Outgoing treasurer has established processes and is happy to offer guidance initially (meetings monthly initially to get established, then may move to every 2-3 months).
๐ Secretary to act as formal point of contact on behalf of SMCA, attend to small amount of correspondence and to take minutes at committee meetings.
โ If you have any questions or are interested in helping out you can get in touch through this page (South Mainland Community Association) or get in touch with Annette Mitchell, Ann Black or George Jacobson.
