The Time They Deserve....

You walk through the door, with a list in your hand,
With jobs to be done and a time that is planned.
But remember the person who’s waiting for you—
They need more than tasks; they need friendship too.
Don’t rush through the visit, don’t hurry away,
Don’t let the clock steal the time of their day.
A chat, a smile, just sitting awhile,
Can mean so much more than you might realise.
The tasks will get done, but the person comes first,
For loneliness can sometimes be hardest to bear.
So give them the time that has been set aside—
Be present, be patient, and stay by their side.
For you may be busy, with places to go,
But to them, your visit may mean more than you know.
So remember each person, each visit, each day—
Give them the time they deserve, before you rush away.
