Feeling plateaued or stuck in your guitar journey? That’s a good sign!
It means you’re now ready to move on to the next step!
Especially if you’re over 40 and you’ve been playing on and off for a few years and tried to teach yourself.
It’s like hiking: you can go forward and explore new amazing landscapes, which takes more effort, or go back home and quit.
What does being stuck mean to you?
Perhaps you’ve had enough of playing the same songs, solos, and licks created by others?
Maybe you even tried creating your own music, but felt it didn’t go anywhere?
To solve it, I bet you started to learn more about the fretboard and music theory and got overwhelmed with modes, CAGED, and other methods.
Before sharing my solution to all of these, let me first say that it’s not your fault!
Free YouTube videos, FB groups, and low-priced online courses and books are tempting!
You can learn anything you want instantly and without spending a lot or nothing at all.
So why should you spend so much on guitar lessons with a teacher?
The difference between these learning options is not the money but the results. Let me explain…
The common issue with YT, FB, online courses, and books is that you watch them but they don’t watch you back (or watch your back…).
You have no one watching you play live!
If no one watches you play, no one can correct the mistakes and bad habits you might have gained.
No one answers your questions.
No one who cares about your progress and can direct you to the next level and how to get there.
In addition, videos, books and courses only provide information (and lots of it) but leave you alone to implement it.
That’s what guitar teachers and coaches are for...
They help you implement the knowledge straight away, which leads to faster results and satisfaction.
And like hiking - they are there for you to guide you along the way.
But if they only teach you other people’s music or music theory in a boring way, you’d feel that it’s not worth it.
And you’re right! If they do so, they teach you the same thing that led you to ask for their help in the first place…
So of course you’d want to go back to your videos, courses, and books...
But it doesn’t have to be this way!
The solution I’m offering is to learn how to compose music on your guitar.
Not many know this, but there are proven methods to master the fretboard and understand music theory by creating music.
Learning by creating is the most fun and effective way to implement and retain new knowledge
…and you end up with guitar music you can then record and share with pride!
Unfortunately, there are only so many guitar teachers who know how to teach music creativity - improvisation and composition.
But it’s a topic that anyone can learn!
I spent a few decades learning and teaching guitar creativity, including 2 years of extensive research in music psychology.
All this knowledge I share in my academy - the art of solo guitar composition.
I’m looking for 3 more guitar players who are passionate about levelling up their guitar playing and reaching their full potential as creative and expressive guitarists in the next 3 months.
