I have been made aware of some confusion concerning me and another Crafty Cow business. Just to clarify that my business is Adele Crowe trading as The Crafty Cow based in Aberdeenshire and I am not connected with any other business that may also have Crafty Cow in their name.

I have been putting off writing this but the time has come to let you know that I will be taking a temporary extended break as The Crafty Cow. I have decided to focus on my studies again for my 'real' job which means that alongside juggling family life, my leather work is going to have to take a back seat for a year or so.

I want to thank all of my lovely customers for keeping me busy with orders for new belts and dog collars and for all the repair items you have sent me, I have enjoyed working on each and every one of them πŸ₯°

So watch this space and I will hopefully see you again next year 😊

This little guy was just too cute not to give him (or her πŸ€£πŸ™ˆ) a post all to himself 😍. This little ladybird keyring is a sentimental keepsake had been well loved but had seen better days. After just a little TLC, he was ready to go back home 🐞πŸ₯°

I just love doing these jobs, it's sometimes the smallest of things that can make a big difference to someone ❀️

I wanted to do a separate post for these beautifully carved leather bags as I think they deserved a post all of their own 😍😍

They were obviously well loved bags but starting to show many signs of their age and much of the stitching was disintegrating on the lighter bag. I managed to restore it with keeping all of the original leather but giving it some extra strength from the inside, and re stitching by hand most of the bag.

I promised to show you all a bit if what I've been up to. Here's a few repairs that I've had in my workshop over the last few months.

It really does make me so happy to do these repairs and give items a new lease of life for many years to come. It's quite likely that these could have otherwise ended up in landfill or just lost in a cupboard or tackroom.

I have been totally rubbish at posting on Facebook so far this year πŸ™ˆ I'll put a few posts up later to show some recent repair jobs I've done but my job for today is to get these girth straps finished off and sewn on πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘Œ

I realise I've been very quiet on here the last few months and have been totally rubbish at posting any updates. I have been keeping busy behind the scenes working away in my workshop doing lots of repairs for my lovely clients.

With the weather now turning colder and wetter it's the perfect time of year to give your tack a good inspection and check for any loose stitching or cracked/weak leather. Ensuring your tack is safe is important any time of the year, but winter can be harsh on leather so any weaknesses can deteriorate quicker. Often a quick repair is all that is required. This can be cheaper than buying new and it is also better for the environment as well as your pocket, to mend and make do.

Here's a selection of my recent repairs ranging from new buckles, new straps, replacement elastic, repairing split leather, replacement fluff, and removing a name plate from a headcollar.

Some last minute show prep tonight for me, getting ready for New Deer show tomorrow. This is a perfect opportunity to again highlight the importance of checking your tack and looking after it by cleaning it. I noticed a few loose stitches on one of my reins which have now been fixed 😊 I am very guilty of not cleaning my tack as often as I should and I hold my hands up and I'm gonna make a more conscious effort to do as I preach πŸ™ˆ for the safety of you and your horse don't be like me and check and clean your tack frequently, and get in touch if you need any repairs πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘

My latest happy customer 😍🐎 I think the beautiful Leggy looks very pleased πŸ˜€

Replacement d ring Straps were required for the breastplate as the existing ones were too short and difficult to attach. The breastplate can now be fully adjusted to ensure a correct fit and comfort for Leggy, as well as making it easier to attach to the saddle πŸ‘Œ

I love getting feedback from my clients so if you have been happy with my work please feel free to leave a review πŸ₯°
