We get asked this one a lot: "Should I buy coins or bars?"

Honest answer, for most UK buyers, coins win. Not because of the gold. Because of the tax.

Gold Britannias and Sovereigns are British legal tender. HMRC treats them as currency.
That means no Capital Gains Tax, no matter how large the gain.

Bars don't have that protection. Profits above £3,000 are taxable.
