Climate change is no longer a distant conversation, it is reshaping every aspect of our lives. Including what is in our glass. 🍷
Across the wine world, rising temperatures, extreme weather, and shifting seasons are forcing producers to rethink everything, from where vineyards are planted to which grape varieties they grow. But within this challenge, something interesting is happening.
According to a recent Wine Enthusiast article, Portuguese grape varieties are gaining global attention, not just for their quality, but for their natural resilience. Many of these grapes are better adapted to heat and drought, ripen later, and maintain balance even in warmer climates.
From Bordeaux to Napa to Australia, winemakers are beginning to experiment with Portuguese varieties as part of the solution to a changing climate.
At Vinify this is something we have always believed in.
Portuguese wines are not just rich in heritage and character, they may also play an important role in the future of wine.
Not because they “win” climate change but because they help the industry adapt to it.
The future of wine might look different, but it might taste a little more Portuguese. ☺️
Naturally adapted to a hot climate, Portugal’s grapes are traveling the globe to help winemakers combat climate change.
