The co-operative gallery, established forty years ago, offers a wide selection of textiles, jewellery, ceramics, wood, metalwork, leather, women's and children's clothing from designermakers living and working in Cornwall.

We are delighted to announce our expert judging panel for this year’s Emerging Metalworker of the Year Award supported by Lucy and Laurence Butcher. This award celebrates the talent, grit, and artistry of those in the first five years of their professional metalworking journey. ⚒️

• Russell Lownsbrough Russell Lownsbrough FIPG – award-winning master craftsman, wax carver and goldsmith with over thirty years of professional experience in the trade, Russell is renowned for his bespoke jewellery, silverware and medals using traditional lost-wax casting methods alongside direct metalworking. A Fellow of the Institute of Professional Goldsmiths and a judge for the Goldsmiths Craft and Design Awards, he is passionate about passing on specialised bench skills through masterclasses and industry mentoring.

• Lisa Wisdom Lisa Wisdom AWCB – acclaimed metal artist and craftsperson who transforms salvaged, rusted metals into evocative landscape collages, Lisa utilises traditional metal manipulation techniques from historical roofing and sheet metal trades, relying on the natural weathering, minerals and textures of reclaimed copper, zinc, lead and iron. A member of the Cornwall Crafts Association, she champions sustainable, regenerative material use and creative improvisation.

This award is open to any craft where metal is the primary material, including blacksmithing, coppersmithing, tinsmithing, silversmithing, goldsmithing, swordsmithing, knife making, cutlery making, bronze casting, brass instrument making ... and more!

There is a £1,000 prize for the winner to be presented at a high-profile Winners’ Reception in November.

‘Cornucopia’: horn of plenty—is a large horn-shaped container overflowing with fruit, flowers, or nuts. It is a classic symbol of abundance, prosperity and a bountiful harvest’ .....

So why not have a ‘Cornucopia of Craft’ !! ... thankyou to for a rather stupendous Horn and window design concept along with for the gorgeous signage ....
So we promised you a new window ... and here it is
An abundance of beautiful things ... a bountiful harvest of 4 makers work ....
We hope you love it as much as we do ... pop along to see the creations of our 4 featured makers ... and
There are more pieces of their work inside our little corner of Truro along with the other 11 makers who make up ... yes we know ... our Maths is challenged ... but who wouldn’t have 15 Cornwall based makers with such beautiful things just waiting to find a new home.
We are open every day except Sundays from 10am to 5pm. There is a great car park just beside us and a couple of fabulous places to eat just along our street ... so come find us if you are visiting Truro ... we are just opposite the Cathedral on Old Bridge Street and one of us will always be here waiting to help you find that special little something ###x

I’ve mentioned recently I was a surface designer before a printmaker and patterns have always been important to me. I’ve been trying to jump back into making books for a while and using the pattern work I did last month has been a lovely way to engage with that process. Watch out over the next week or so for new finished screenprinted journals after lots of trials!

Just delivered a new fleet of boats to Cornwall Crafts Association. I’ve experimented with some interesting variations, coloured clays and slip textured surfaces. Also a new black crawl glaze which is firing a lovely dark khaki and a pale turquoise which I think works well on grey clay.

The current showcase in the gallery entrance with the brilliant Debbie Rudolph continues throughout August. Do catch the Visionary Lines exhibition if you happen to be in Cornwall this summer.

In Praise of Small Things, a collaborative exhibition by printmaker Anita Reynolds (Anita Reynolds), jeweller Lucy Spink (Lucy Spink), and metalsmith Rebecca Walklett (Rebecca Walklett), is showing now in our first floor Riverside Gallery.

The exhibition explores the bond forged between the three makers and the moorland and coast of Dartmoor and West Penwith: landscapes ingrained with the marks left by centuries of human habitation, connected by the granite batholith that underpins them and the abundance of life that clings to it.

Following a fruitful artist residency, friends Lucy and Rebecca applied for another residency the following year. The second residency took place on Dartmoor, where they met Anita.

The three makers connected over their shared passion for landscape and how important it is to each of them. They also share a personal narrative: that of having recently relocated, or about to move their homes. This common thread has become woven into their pieces.

In Praise of Small Things is showing until 5 September.
